Not sure why, as this is a discussion forum, we have to move on

Nice to see that sws ignored your request

I won't be posting anymore.

Debz, to be fair there are only a few minutes between posts so it is possible that SWS was typing his reply while i posted mine :).

Also, nobody has to stop posting but i feel many of you have made your point so we already know how you feel about this subject.

Not ignored, missed!!

Here's a thought.....rather than looking down at the 'ugly grey path', why not look up at the stunning views and beauty that is Puerto Pollensa?! I know what I will be looking at myself. After everything that's going on in the world lately, surely there's more important things in life?!

As i have said many times, every member of this forum has the right to voice their opinions as long as they are not abusive.

Malc maybe people thought they were in a nature reserve where motto is "Leave nothing but footprints".

Sparky I not seen the road/path so can't comment which no body else should do unless they seen for themselves, so far I have not read any abusive remarks, so why cap it, I refer you to your quote above.

Snowy my post was in reply to Molt de Renou and i didn't say that there had been any abusive posts.

There were at least another 15 posts before i asked members who had already made their feelings known to move on.

Why move on? what is there to move onto when debate is still ongoing only 41 post since Chelseadons post #796 and yours # 837 in open forum you should allow post to run unless they get abusive or rude, is that not what the forum is about POINTS OF VIEW. Some right some wrong.

I have not seen the work first hand yet but will do during May, so my comments are only based on what I have read on the forums and viewed on the web cams.
Many of the negative comments seem to be about the quality of the work done.
I have watched the webcam with great interest as have you all, the thing I noticed as regards the work is that there seems to be a lack of steel mesh (rebar) going in to the concrete paving there is also no expansion joints as far as I can see. If so this means that the cracks that are visible now are as nothing to what they will be when the sun and heat really gets going in the summer months.
As to ‘They do things different in Spain’, I thought that at the moment we were all in EU and governed by the same dictate’s that have made many changes to construction and public works methods here in Britain.
I looked on the webcam this morning and watched the steel fixers at El Ancla putting rebar into the concrete on their site, That’s first time I have seen any steel work being done.
I really do hope I am wrong and that everything in pavements as been done correctly but judging by the comments I fear the worst!
Here is some basic information about concrete requirements for paving etc. Pavingexpert - Concrete Movement Joints

I think people have said that there are expansion joints that will give the option of replacing areas that crack and as for rebar I think that only aplies to thicker areas of concrete, certainly for paths and areas where you will not expect to have heavy traffic rebar is not usually needed

If you read about concrete paving on the site I posted you will find that the minor cracks people are mentioning is due to the lack of rebar.
Expansion joints should be every 4 to 5 mtr given the width of the pavements.
If you don’t need rebar why are they putting it in on the entrance to El Ancla where only a few people will be walking?
If the road and the pavements are eventually at the same level will lorries and buses never venture onto the pavements to unload?
Finally if you want to see how the first line should be pedestrianized you have only to look at the SeeMallorca Port de Soller webcam. Now that’s a great example!!
Sorry Sparky if I can’t mention the webcam? I deliberately did not post the address

Oh dear you missed Sparky's post again

We were only discussing the finer points of concreting, we didn't mention cars once! Moving on then, has any of any updates on the progress up the far end, the first stage is due to finish next week isn't it? Not seen many photos on FB for a while

I find this thread pretty interesting actually, as do others obviously, when I get fed up with it I just wont click on it. We are out next week, and will certainly be interested in the work done in the Llenaire area, as we don't seem to have had many photos of the area taken. Also interested in how the parking will be affected, as it was suggested that the back roads would be used more, but I think that will probably be more in high season . Now THAT will cause a feedback to be sure! :o

Those of you who intend staring up into the sky whilst taking in the beauty of the mountains and the beautiful weather beware you don't end up tripping up on the cracks and potholes ! Alittleplum thanks for focussing at long last on the actual issue raised I.e quality of workmanship. Interestingly the area on the shop side that is acceptable has expansion cracks and a proper design in the surface. Unfortunately it's all too obvious that as they moved to the beachside all this was forgotten in the haste to catch up time. As previously stated nothing to do with lack of budget and everything to do with poor project management.

Something that did cross my mind too actually, as my dad uses a walking stick, so don't need any surprises!:o

I have successfuly negotiated the pavements both sides of the road using crutches without any problems at all...the only issue which I mentioned before were the very wide gaps around the 3 big trees near the spar shop and Sargantana ..however they had made a start in filling these in with blocks before rain stopped play as the saying goes 😉

As a matter of interest, is the intention to use the same material to raise the level of the road in the second part of the project?

I've not seen the pavements yet, so will decline to comment on the quality, but if the quality issues are true, pouring more of the stuff over the roadway doesn't sound great.
