So, another lovely holiday is over I’m afraid, we had such a great time and as I had a bereavement just before we were due to go and we thought we would lose our holiday, I think we had an extra special time.

A sad time for us, but Mallorca and Pollenca welcomed us with open arms and we had such a warm affectionate welcome from friends and locals with, it lifted our hearts and souls.

I won’t be doing a large report as usual, as we did mainly the same things and I am sure you are all fed up with pictures of the lovely veggie food we eat, but I will post some reports of the new places we visited.

The port was looking beautiful with all the new restaurants and improvements over the winter, the hotel Elo was looking stunning, I will not say much about the semi pedestrianisation as it has all been said but what I will say is that is has enhanced the port so much and unquestionably has improved the overall appearance. The front is now quiet and tranquil without the numerous trucks, lorries and buses up and down all day, the paths are wide and especially when the road is raised along some of its length next phase it is so easy to cross. The new chairs and street furniture are an attractive addition and people were using them all, can’t wait until the complete the sea wall and new seats next phase also, and of course the road which unfortunately is still atrocious. The cycle lane is great and was being used by almost all, and we only saw one Palma taxi going the wrong way.

We ate out twice most days and had some wonderful meals out with friends, the standard of food seems even higher this year and we noticed smaller portions which is much better as they had got so huge. Being early, everyone was still chilled and had time to chat and we caught up with everyone we know, and we played the ’guess where they are working last year game’, one exception was the older guy from Tolo, we didn’t see him, does anyone know where he is now if he has moved on?

So a wonderful time but so sad to be back, but with only 80 days until we do it all over again, the countdown has already started.

If thats his name, not sure, they have three new staff this year I think

I am glad you were able to enjoy your holiday. We are out in August with our 17 year old daughter who is now vegetarian since our last visit , so i wonder if you would mind recommending any restaurants that cater well to vegetarians, aside from the obvious Belleverde, which we'll be visiting?
Many thanks

I'm sorry to hear of your loss SWS but I never get fed up of your pictures and reviews - always lovely even though I'm not a veggie. PP always lifts hearts and souls. Glad you enjoyed you holiday and I agree about the pedestrianisation and am looking forward to a sneaky visit this weekend.

Most restaurants cater for vegetarians (though you might find that the choice is limited). My daughter loves the pasta with vegetables at Stay. There are some great Italian restaurants where there's a good choice of salads, pizza and pasta dishes - Casa Vila in the Square has some lovely options.

He hasn't moved on SWS but I was told by another of the waiters that he was having health problems.

Thanks whaley, thats a great shame I hope he recovers soon

Hi Ruby, we have a thread with an up to date list of places serving veggie food here http://www.forum.puertopollensa.com/bars-restaurants-pollensa-majorca/6798-restaurants-serving-vegetarian-food.html

My personnel recommendations would be La cabana who do a large range of veggies tapas and are adding more all the time, Centric and Nicos who both have great veggie dishes as well as gluten free and other options and as all their dishes are made from scratch will also adapt dishes as well. Tapas Tree also have veggie options but not as many as last year. Did see that Casa Vila had less options than before, but again ask them and they will change the dishes to suit.

Here is a list of all the places we visited this trip, 17 places in 10 days was hard going at times, but we had such wonderful food again, such high quality and also we had the local wine whenever we could. Going to try and visit the places we missed this time, namely Los Zarzales, el Mesion and Bellaverde

Ca N’Olesa
Great food as usual, the wife is running it while the owner is in the port, slightly disappointed as she is changing the menu are not doing the artichokes with garlic and parsley anymore, I mentioned it to him and he said he was going to speak to his wife, so it may be back on now

Tiberi
I had the veggie burger which was great, and so was the veggie stir fry, great welcome from Marcos the owner and we had free drink on the house which was the first time and very nice too

Tapas Tree
We went at lunch time and they have a new lunchtime menu which doesn’t have all the veggie tapas on it, but still had some great food and such a lovely setting out the back

La Cabana
Fantastic as usual, Jo has added some new veggie dishes to try, and the usual favourites as well, great food, friendly service and the best tapas in the port, definitely will be in our top fives again

Nicos
Went in on our last day as it was raining a bit and we wanted to make sure we had enough to eat before heading off to the airport, so we choose here. Great service again form the owner, we had the nachos and the onion rings which were lovely and huge! Great mains, lovely freshly made Enchiladas and wraps, so very tasty food, and lots of special diet options.

La Trencadora
Our favourite restaurant in the town, we were lucky as we turned up without booking but managed to get a table. The food was stunning as usual, I had the special again, freshly made tagliatelle with truffles which was delightful, great food, great service and reasonable prices

El Posito
We went on our last night with the Sparks and had a wonderful time, great food and company and a late finish!! It was football as well, Spain beating Turkey 2-0 which made it even more of a special evening. We had Tumbet to start which was wonderful and then the veggie Paella which was also fantastic and very large, I impressed Miguel though by going back for a very large second helping. Another one that will definitely be in our top five

Mojito
We hadn’t been here for a while so called in, nice welcome from the staff as they always speak if they see us around, its just one of the places we don’t get around to visiting anymore. The food was wonderful as usual we also had the Tumbet and veggie Paella, but I must admit el Posito’s was better, but still very good.

Sa Portassa
In Alcudia old town, we love cycling around to here and having lunch and thought we would try somewhere different, we wanted to try Can costa which is opposite this place but it was full, but so glad we tried it, the food was wonderful and freshly cooked, and great value, we will definitely go back again in September.

Bar Crystal
Again in Alcudia, down a quiet side street, we love it here and go back each visit, lovely friendly staff and a great place for a long relaxing lunch

Take Eat Easy
New owners this year but thankfully the same menu, lots of veggie options, we had the courgette spaghetti which is wonderful, again a wonderful view and great for a long lunch

Tolos
W One of out must visit lunchtime places, lovely staff and great food, we have learnt now and we share a pizza and Tolos house salad which must t be the best salad anywhere, with a bottle of wine a great relaxing lunch off the beach, before returning for a well-earned siesta

Casa Vila
Another evening out with the Sparks and one of our favourite places to go to, seems a bit quieter now some of the staff have moved to their new one, but the remaining staff welcomed us as usual. Wonderful food as usual, although not as many veggie options as before, but a great evening with lots of wine, and a late one again.

Ostreia 15
Yet another meal out with the Sparks and we tried here again as we hadn’t been for a while, we sat out in the new garden patio area at the back which is lovely and will be great in the winter. The food here is very high quality and we all enjoyed it very much, I had the porcini risotto which was the best mushroom risotto I have had, great friendly service as usual, another wonderful evening.

Portofino
As posted separately, a great place, wonderful food and such lovely staff, a great garden area and open all the year round, will definitely be back in September and hopefully January as well.

Cinco Oceanos
Again as posted separately, one of our must visit places, such a lovely place and the food is excellent too, could have spent hours just sitting, chilling and drinking wine.

Manzanas & Peras
Our usual Sunday post market favourite, great salads and as I have said before the best goats cheese salad anywhere and one that all others are judged against, coupled with local Rosado, a wonderful place to sit and people watch while enjoying excellent food.

Miel del Lune
We always have a Chinese when we are over, we love the tofu dishes so much, lovely friendly welcome and wonderful food.

Well done - I don't think I've ever managed to have a 2nd portion of paella at EP - although I suspect Miggy would be upset if you didn't leave a portion for him to eat later on ;) :D

Lol, thanks Doogz, don't worry there was still enough left for Miggy, although I am sure he would have preferred a meat or fish one!!
