News about the new bus station/stops.

You now cant take suitcases on the bus as we had done before, now they have to go in the hold underneath, this is what happened to us last trip

You are most probably are right. I was quoting from a newspaper article that says that passengers have been complaining about a bus driver who won´t open the hold.

I really do appreciate the effect of the Roger de Flor stop as I was staying around the corner. It was noisy and smelly and must be hell for the residents. I think the proposed final location for bus station while not as central as the old one, will be fine - a short walk from the square. My concern is the other stops as unless you are staying near the bypass, the walks on a hot day down to the front line may be too much for some.

Regarding cases, I struggled to find somewhere for my carry on case inside a Hoppa. It went underneath with my hold case no problem. I think tourists will suffer with the new rules and route and it may put people off from returning. The winners will be the taxis and hopper services which will hopefully improve on recent performance by some.

I repeat - this is not good news - the new bus stops especially the on in the service road in Pinaret.
The service roads were never meant for bus's never mind long Palma bendy bus's to go along them.
Where is everyone going to park? Damage to cars will happen as the bus drivers go along the narrow road!
What is the route going to be?
Out at the end of August and sitting on our terrace is now not going to be a pleasure at all - may even sell - but won't be able to because of the bus stop!
Great long time lover of Puerto Pollensa but not now!

The Ayuntamiento have been "hell bent" on having a by pass and now that it is there they have to pretend that they have had carefully thought out plans to use it. Does anyone believe that all the recent changes in bus routes and bus stops have been in the master plan? No. They have been off the cuff panic solutions to problems that they had not considered. How long will it take for this latest plan for bus routes to be scrapped and another scheme introduced without any public consultation. Regarding the plan being introduced on 1 August: what proportion of the resident population will use the Pinaret and Gomar Stops? Miles from the front and most of the hotels. Surely the only sensible routes and siting for bus stops is along the front line - with easy access to most of the shops, bars, restaurants, hotels and beaches for those who have no car and rely on public transport. Do the Ayuntamiento really expect holidaymakers to make the long walk from Pinaret, Gommar, Llenaire or Roger de Florence with lilos, umbrellas, picnic bags and beach furniture to the front? It's a lunatic scheme. Why are the Ayuntamiento resisting the use of the front line for public transport?

Anything that takes traffic off of the front line is good news as far as I'm concerned. It seems that the pedestrianisation is being taken seriously . Great

We stay on the bypass and it's a pleasant 10 minute walk down to the beach, we used to stay at the Habitat apartments and walk down, now that was a long walk

Ok, just checked out this map and would like to ask a question: if I wanted to catch a bus to Palma could I catch one at the Pinaret stop (on the by-pass) or would I have to go over to the Gommar stop (on the Pollensa Road)?

I understand the map and the new stops but we could do with the routes that the different number buses take.

The routes can be found on this link TIB - Route 340: Port de Pollença - Palma - CTM and there is a PDF that you can download giving new times for after 1st August.

At the moment it is still showing the Pollensa Park stop but when that goes it looks like the Palma bus will stop at Llenaire, Gotmar and Roger de Flor. There is no mention of Pinaret.

The bus stops in Gommar have always been there and are always busy however the walk into port is not bad. I should know as I have been there for 40 years :)

Public Service Buses

The one small minus this year for our visit, was the removal of the bus routes along the front because of the one-way system. We used to enjoy the ease of bussing either out to Alcudia (town) or Pollensa in a morning to return for the p.m. to PP. The journey to Pollensa, which used to take about just 20 minutes is now twice as long as we snake around PP after the new bus station call.
I hope the Ajumente (spelling?) abandon the full pedestrianisation plan and come up with new routes next year using the one-way and old bus station as part of a new circuit for both routes out of PP instead of the distant Av. Llenaire and New Station.

The second major plus for me is not having smelly, noisy buses going down the front. I've used it and it doesn't double the journey and is no hassle atall.

But Nick, although there aren't as many buses, there are still the tour buses, Mallorca Trip and delivery vehicles and the journey around the narrow streets isn't appreciated by the bus drivers, having to wait for people stopping in the roadways while they "pop" into the businesses and block the bus (particularly the bendy). I timed the route and it was a lot longer and that was not the S. Vicenz route.

I've moved these last posts here as the current plan is for the main bus stop t relocate to land on the bypass behind the resort - not sure how this will affect journey length but should avoid buses down some of the smaller roads.
