Hello everyone
has anyone used balearesislands.com to book a villa? they are asked for 1keuro security deposit. The site looks ok, just a bit concerned at the level of deposit.
thanks
BD

That is a very high amount for a deposit. I have never had any dealings with the company, but know one of the properties that they have listed (which is very nice)

Looking at the T&C's they also appear to want you to pay an additional insurance premium, which provides you with cover for the first 500 Euros of damage.
My personal view of the terms is that whoever drafted them had rather a concern about property damage!

They are based in Benidorm, and don't list who the agent in PP is that they use.

thanks for the above...

You're right to do your homework Bootledodger. Take good care - friends of ours paid up front for a longer term let for a beautiful seafront apartment. The whole thing was a scam and they lost a very significant sum that had been requested upfront. No recourse to the law as the scammers could not be identified.

The site looks ok,

Not to me it doesn't, the contact page is just a contact form with no physical street address or email address.

Also most of the photos look to be from sealandvillas website who advertise here and are very reputable as we have booked with them many times.

This is how a contact page should look like as an example;
https://www.sealandvillas.com/contact-us/

Also never ever pay by bank transfer or deal with anyone using a free anonymous email address such as yahoo or hotmail or gmail for any financial transaction.

Having looked at the site in more detail...I agree with you fully Mark. I actually spoke to Sealand Villas this morning (I too have used them previously) - they have been great. Cheers mate.

Sealand Villas have been great, looks like they've used their descriptions too. The villa we were looking at was already booked for them dates almost a year ago via Sealand Villas!
