Typical, the first day that we can go to the beach to swim and sunbathe it flipping rains .

Is it permitted to use swimming pools in apartment blocks?

It has been announced that we will move from phase 2 to phase 3 on Monday 8th June :D.

That’s good news, hopefully we’ll be able to travel on 9/7 and see you in El Posito!

Dear Sparky and all residents of PP,
We are tentatively hoping to, once again, be with you in mid July but as responsible visitors would like to know what Covid precautions we will need to adhere to (face masks, social distancing etc.) as we do not wish to embarrass/offend our wonderful hosts at this difficult time.
Any guidance will be greatly appreciated:)

If you go into any shop or use public transport you have to wear a mask, i always have a mask with me just in case it's not possible to observe the metre and a half distance outside. All bars and restaurants provide hand gel but i carry my own, basically to save them the expense. With regard to the customary greeting hugs, many of us are beginning to do it again but we all know each other well and the fact that we were all in total lock down means we are safe.
I think we will all be more cautious with visitors purely because we don't want to go back to the dark times of total lock down. Sorry if this offends but you guys had it easy ;).

Yup, fair point. I'm sure there will be concern amongst the locals over tourists coming in.

No offence taken Sparky and was asking purely for this purpose as we do not wish to offend or embarrass others. We have both had the virus, my wife works as a NHS nurse on a Covid ward and brought it home from there, and so we know first hand how awful this disease is. Stay well and keep safe :)

Sparky - No offence taken here either, we are due to fly out on 9/7 but we’re going to see if we can move it back to first two weeks of August, BUT if the UK is still seen as a threat we would cancel completely and wait until next years rather than offend anyone.

I actually don't think we have had it easy. We have had one of the highest death rates because we have been led by an incompetent govt sending out mixed messages. Most people with any sense have been following the European lockdown rules.

I understand your sentiment but trust me you have had it easy. Yes we have had very few cases and deaths on the Island .But Lockdown was exactly that Police road blocks checking you had a receipt for your shopping to prove you had been shopping .NOT allowed out for any form of exercise . Imagine families with children in small apartments the children not allowed out for anything and only 1 family member allowed to go to the pharmacy or supermarket . and having to endure the Police and Guardia checks. And through all this the worry that by far the biggest and in most cases only form of income here comes from tourism and that not happening So a bleak future .
Its easy to say the Government in the UK was incompetent. But they were dealing with a situation that was unprecedented . And at the same time a large proportion of the population who have scant or no regard for authority , So it was difficult for them to enforce what was needed .without anarchy ensuing.
The difference here is the people buckled down and did as they were told because they knew it needed to be done . The spirit was amazing EVERY NIGHT at 8pm YES EVERY NIGHT NOT ONCE A WEEK all took to the balconies and windows to play music and applaud. The police and emergency services drove round sirens going to greet the applause . I wish that spirit could be bottled. They all banded together and faced the difficulty. The world could learn allot form the people of Puerto Pollenca and Pollenca . When Sparky says it was tough she is 100% correct it was the toughest time and at the same time an enlightening time . When you all come out again . Please remember give an extra smile to the people here the deserve and need it .

klad1, when i said you have had it easy i was referring to the UK lockdown, you have always been able to go out for walks and exercise, where as here for many weeks we could only go out to buy essentials.

Sparky - I would take issue with this comment...

How do you know who they have been in contact with? There are far more visitors (day trippers?) in the port especially at weekends and nobody can be certain that the person they are greeting in the way you suggest is virus-free.

I am only talking about my experience in my local bar with good friends.

We have been visiting PP since 1985 at least twice a year. We treat PP like home and have always abided by and respected the law and local traditions.

In Scotland the Police have been known to stop vehicles and speak with walkers just to check we are within the 5 mile radius that we were allowed to walk/travel/exercise once a day within the main lockdown period. All of my friends, family and neighbours adhered to the rules. During the lockdowns both at home and in PP we have recognised the difficulties and how hard it was for Spain.

At home in the UK (Scotland), all of our friends and family have obeyed the lockdown rules and beyond and intend to do the same when visiting PP. We want to do the best for the community in PP. However, with respect, if locals feel we should wait until 2021 please let us know? I would not want to offend by arriving when we should stay at home for this year?

You will be warmly welcomed, the Port needs all the custom it can get :D.
