My insurance doesn't cover me for covid related issues but then again I'll be fully vaccinated by then. I've got loads of weddings and events on this summer and a lad going to uni late septemeber so maybe I'll just come in october for a month?

Yes that's what I'm hoping to do. Hopefully things will be better by then. There has been some confusion around the perception of Governments travel advice. What is important is not whether country is on Amber list it's Foreign Office advice. If Government advices against all but essential travel then it's likely to invalidate your travel insurance. Think this parallel system has lulled people into false sense of security. The Canaries as we know are on the green list. Perhaps the Balearics will be before too long.

My apologies....what I should have said is no FCDO travel restrictions are applied to the Canary Islands therefore should have no impact on travel insurance.

Its so messy isn't it.

Part of me wants to go now, part of me says wait...

I know I'm fed up of the whole situation.Usually go 2 or3 times a year really missing it. Just when everything seems more positive something else to deter you from booking. Hopefully be able to go in September.

Tangoman, is your agent saying he doesn’t think Spain will be on the green list by 28/8/21?
If so, that’s very worrying. PC Agency predicting Green List in July! But who knows *♀️

No Roig Cat. I think he believes that Majorca will not be on the green list until late June at the earliest, and possibly later. So the knock on effect will possibly be that there may not be many hotels open. My own booking for The Miramar is a good example. They only opened for 2, maybe 3 months last year, and have moved this years opening date from April 1st initially, then to May 21st, now to June 16th. So it can't be too far away from a cut off date when it wouldn't be sensible business practise to open at all. God help all the Hotels, Bars, Restaurants - you can only take so much!! I think would not like to send us to a resort that was somewhat deserted, and he is concerned regarding what use travel insurance will be.

Also, we have until 5th June at the very latest to pay the balance, but Boris and his chum Schapps do not appear to be upgrading Spain to green status until a later date, leaving us to sweat it out for the next 12 months, possibly more - who knows how long this pandemic will last.

I know we are going with TUI, a very big company, so our money should be safe. But the situation is so serious that I believe it is not possible for every business to survive, and even TUI have been baled out 3 times in the last 2 years by the German government, and are now operating with around 2 billion pounds of debt.

The other big problem is that there are 5 children in our party, and missing school for 10 days is not deemed to be a risk worth taking.

Si all we can do is wait and see what 5th June brings. Just to help things along (not), we recently booked to flights to East Midlands to visit our son who lives n Leicester, only to find out on monday that travel there is not reccomended!! How lucky can we be??

Telegraph this morning:

Spanish and Greek islands could be added to the UK's green list as soon as June 8, ministers have suggested, even if their mainlands stay amber.

Robert Courts, the aviation minister, told MPs that the Government would treat popular tourist islands with low Covid rates separately “where possible” as it prepares to reveal the next tranche of destinations that could be added to the quarantine-free list at the start of next month.

Transport Secretary Grant Shapps told the BBC's Today programme on Wednesday: "I’ve always said that of course it’s desirable where an aircraft can fly direct to an island, for example, and that island is therefore accessible in that you don’t need to go via the mainland, that you look at that differently. That’s what we did last year as well."

This would put the Canary, Balearic and Greek islands – all boasting eligible data for the green list – back on the map for holidays ahead of the summer season, in addition to other Mediterranean and even Caribbean isles.

Frontrunners are also understood to include Malta, Grenada, Cayman Islands, Fiji, British Virgin Islands, Finland and Caribbean islands thought to include Antigua and Barbuda, St Kitts and Nevis, Turks and Caicos and Anguilla.

In less promising news, Austria has joined Germany in banning direct flights from the UK over concerns at the rising number of cases of the Indian variant.

Advice not to travel to/from Leicester - and Blackburn Burnley Bolton etc is fake news. These areas are under the same advice as everywhere else in England.

The Government web updater person slipped up, and inserted something into the 'advice' web page he/she shouldn't have.

The cynics amongst you may wonder whether this was a ploy to divert attention from Cummins grilling this morning. People would then be more interested in their holidays than Cummins answers.

Same plan for us Rockape - hope to see you on the plane, we will be the couple with all our fingers and toes still crossed !!!

Well Clinkham, it didn't divert my attention; I have been glued to TV all day watching Dominic Cummings clinically dissecting Boris. Great stuff.

I will admit it did really annoy me for a couple of days before the truth went out. But not to worry, Dominic is giving out plenty of truth now; I can almost hear Boris squirming!!

And what has this to do with flights to Mallorca??

Fingers crossed, our flight out from Liverpool to Palma on 5th June seems to be going, though it’s the last easyJet flight then until July, from either Liverpool or Manchester. I asked easyJet what their strategy was, and why so many flights had been cancelled when clearly there is demand from folk like us.....retired second home owners who can happily deal with testing and quarantine, but they were unable to offer any explanation. But we could fly from Luton?????? Have they been leant upon by government, I wonder. Hidden subsidies not to fly? Anyway, our return flight on 17th is with the dreaded Ryanair so yet more crossing of fingers! At least I should be able to get my car through it’s ITV! And visit our apartment at last. Am I the only one who thinks 2021 is a worse year than 2020? Ah well, there’s some hope now and (just) maybe, the Balearics may come onto the Green list on 8th June.

I just logged into easyjet to find I've got 2 cancelled flights to use!! Thinking of coming on the 17th for 3 weeks.... I'm getting very close to not coming home again...

There has been another cull of flights. Many flights in first half of July cancelled including mine.
Probably done me a favour as I was banking on Green to travel!

Cancelled Flights

Hi Roig Cat

Can you possibly give me any details, or a link, to check out where and when the cancelled flights are from/to??

If you look at easyJet’s website it’s easy to see the difference to their schedule for the first half of July compared to the second. My cancelled flights were from Bristol Thursday and Tuesdays.
