After writing a literal trip report on the Security thread I thought it was worth doing a proper job just as a wee update for anyone heading to Pollenca Town this summer.
Well, big news is BinGate... the town is in chaos with bin bags hanging in strange places with stickers on because many folks havent paid any attention to new recycling scheme. They handed out new plastic bins while I was away so I had to go to the Emser Office and show my ID (or just the council tax bank receipt) and get my bins. Its working but all the collection dates have changed and many dont understand when to leave bins out (DM me if you need specifics). As a consequence the public dumpsters are getting overwhelmed... it'll get sorted.
The car parks are running well. The Can Bach CP has been flattened out again. Very dusty but thankfully my new white car doesnt show it too bad compared to my balck car... (who TF buys a black car in Mallorca, yeah Bob did duh).
All the restaurants are doing well. Urban Bites (where Japan lab was) is a victim of its own sucess, still haven't got in!!.
The newish deli bar "Anima e Farina" is def on our radar now as the staff are lovely and you can get a real glass of wine from a long list without having to buy food (although you'll end up buying food because 1 glass inst enough)..
Quickly - All the usual haunts are doing well, had great service at many recently... only regret is not making the trip to Celler El Moli this trip...
Calvari Corner Cafe is now Calvari Hills cafe and they've opened a second kitchen for Indian Food. The menu is great really but they're just not getting any footfall. They look after you really well so I fully recommend you give them a try as they're really worried they've messed up. To be fair, their front of house intro needs a bit of work as often 2 or 3 staff will stand there staring at you as you walk past. They need to refine the art of looking busy but welcoming at the same time (they need to go to wherever Giovani at Once/Q11 learned, he's got to be the king of customer service!!)
Ernie at U Gallet is going from strength to strength. Fully recommend them, they've done a deal with One Touch Tapas cafe next door (the lady near the base of the real steps on the left as you come down) so you can order Tapas and get table service in the Pub... you wont find nicer cocktails or Guiness anywhere else in Pollenca... and he's showing as much football as he's legally allowed to.... and then they have amazing Jazz bands on friday nights.
Meanwhile, poor old Cantonet is struggling. We had a lovely meal on Sunday and there was barely a soul in there. Please take time to meander up there and check them out. They're lovely ladies and it's not silly money. You can sit in their peaceful back garden too. Not many places in P with a nice quiet garden.
