...The environment councillor at the town hall, Maria Buades, was asked if there was authorisation for this. No, came the reply. But this had been done in previous years and there hadn’t been any issues.

Two 'red light' radars in Palma
Drivers beware, there’s a new radar in Palma that can detect motorists skipping red lights and automatically issue a fine.
It’s the second red light radar in the city. The first one was installed at the crossroads of Calle Manacor, Manuel Azaña and Adrià Ferrà before the Covid pandemic began and the new one is on the corner of Tomàs Villanueva y Cortès and Isaac Albéniz, in the Son Oliva neighbourhood.
...
Sanctions
Anyone caught skipping a red light will be fined 200 euros, but the penalty will be reduced to 50 euros if the fine is paid swiftly.
But non-payment will result in the fine being tripled to 600 euros and drivers who disagree with the fine can also ask to view the video.
the 'i' newspaper reports this morning that british expats in spain are facing a driving ban after the uk government failed to reach a post-brexit deal on licence rules.
A grace period expired without agreement yesterday, meaning that britons who are resident in spain can no longer legally drive using their dvla-issued licences
uk gov, quote, confirms "from (yesterday), uk licence holders who have been resident in spain for more than six months and did not exchange their licence during the transition period will no longer be able to drive legally in spain."
" we have agreed to rapidly accelerate talks" they helpfully continued....
So that's alright then
(the change does not affect holidaymakers)
The goal post have moved several times over the last 2 years and you cannot change your licence until you have your actual residencia. Which can prove to be a slow process . So not exactly 2 years but now 6 months from receiving your residencia. You must now take a practical and written driving test under Spanish rules , As I said previously BREXIT THE GIFT THAT KEEP ON GIVINGHow long do people want? We've known about this for 2 years!
With all due respect i do not think anything was on the minds of the people who voted they were led down a blind alley and lied to . The negative results of Brexit have had a huge impact on those of us who are actually living here and visitors for vacations and people owning vacation properties that they have paid for with hard earned money but can now only visit for 90 days in a 180 day period * you think that is a good thing?. and even bigger on those people who relied on summer jobs here from the UK Thousands of young people can no longer work in Europe , singers etc who had summer seasonal work here for years can no longer work in Europe . Parcels cannot be sent to or from the \UK from Europe without many problems . speak to the transport companies#33 - A) Who moved the goal posts, B) Who makes the Residencia process so slow, C) What’s wrong with passing the driving test of the country in which you’re residing (don’t know what it’s like in Yorkshire, but driving round east London/south west Essex, you get the impression that there are a lot of people driving not having passed a British driving test, or any test for that matter). With all due respect, I think the plight of British drivers residing in the EU was not very high up the list of subjects on the minds of ANYONE who voted in the Referendum..

I could list so many negative things . But I have yet to hear 1 single positive . I mean true positive not political Spin. that has resulted from Brexit .
in answer to your question the goal posts on driving have been moved many times . what makes the residencia process slow is the fact that every single person living in all of Spain but originally from the UK had to either re apply for their existing residencia . And those without had to apply for residencia. Hundreds of thousands of people all over Spain a bureaucratic nightmare at the best of time
The above are the facts sorry for the rant but sometimes people believe what they read and do not know what is actually happening on the coal face
On Monday, Pollensa town hall activated an emergency procedure when there were spills of fuel from two boats and a jet ski in Puerto Pollensa. The red flag was raised. Among others, schoolchildren who were at the Albercuix beach at the time had to get out of the water.
Mayor Tomeu Cifre said that it was too early to confirm for sure but that it appeared as if the boats and jet ski had been sabotaged. "It could be related to a mooring 'scheme'. There are people who put out buoys and charge for mooring. When we arrived, it turned out that the vessels had been sunk. They had open fuel and oil caps."
