Hi all,
Well today is very windy and quite cold, virtually no sun and very dull.( 1pm just started to drizzle)
The two villas being built on the main road going down towards Cala Barques are finished and look great, but they have now started to build on the corner plot on the road leading to Hotel Cala Sant Vicenc.
The beach bar and restraunts at Cala Barques don't appear to be open yet, but I saw Juan and Nicholas from Hotel Nui the other day, they are sprucing everything up ready for opening. The Boards are still on the windows of Don Pedro but the painters have been dollying up around the pool and terrace of the Simar.The spar shop is undergoing a clean up and Gabrielles supermarket has been having deliveries and all the racking painted ready for the season. Souvenirs Maria, (next door) is up for rent and the little shop selling diving goggles and related stuff across the road has closed down. The paper shop is not yet open but I noticed Motos Formentor are open and in business.( by the way they will leave you a car at the airport for you to collect so if you have problems with it this end of the island its easy to get fixed). The pizza restaurant still showing no signs of life.
Minigolf is open but very quiet. Cafe 66 looks exactly the same as all winter with major clean up necessary. Across the road the Irishman is still painting away but it is looking better.
Around at mollins bay the shops are open, the sea is amazingly calm considering the winds we have had over the last few days.Bar Majorca on the car park is open, except on Sundays, as is the chemist up the side road.
The tobacco shop is closed and up for rent(don't know what happened there). Nothing new happened at Mayol, it could be later this year before we see anything there.
Pepe's still has no sign of life, the bistro next door is open as is L'alba across the road. The building work is progressing well with first floors being put in. Two great big holes have appeared next to the Oriola ready for the next building work.The Modesto seems to be open but just at night time.This is the latest news from the cala.

Hi all, Just driven around the village on a glorious day , the sea is calm and all the different shades of blue that is so attractive.The sign of Cal Patron is now off so I presume they are open, but haven't been down to see. The spar shop under Marinas is open, as is Gabrielles supermarket and the Souvenir shop Maria's.
Driving round the headland noticed the boards are finally off the windows of Don Pedro and the huge straw sunshade is in place on the terrace.
The painters are outside the Hotel Mollins and Bar Mallorca was doing a roaring trade with the cyclists.
The noise next to Oriola is LOUD and there are two rock breakers and a JCB perched precariously on the three levels they are digging out.
Met Tomao from Vora mar and he told me they have to stop on 1st May, but we will just have to wait and see(hear)!
The tables are outside at the Pizzaria and looking through the windows, the tables are set inside, so maybe they will open by this weekend. Thats all the news for now, sorry about the spellings I'm hopeless at them.

Here is the News
Its 1st May and it is as quiet as the grave, NO ROCK BREAKERS.How wonderful to hear the birds again.
It is a really beautiful day and hubby and I have just had our daily fix of driving around the headland, the sea colours never cease to amaze us.
All the places now seem to be open, met a waiter from the Simar, he said he starts work tomorrow, but in the Don Pedro as all the guests booked for Simar are being booked into the Don Pedro until there are enough guests to open both hotels.
Pepe's on Mollins is now open and for the last few days has looked really busy.
The new Irish bar has all his terrace set up and a sign to say Open tonight at 7 pm.
The tables are outside the Pizza place but we haven't seen them set up yet, maybe it's still a little chilly at night.

Hi Cala San and everyone here, Im new here but myself and my wife are going back to CSV at the end of May, stayed there in 2005 and 2006 and think its a fantastic place to visit. We have a son who is 27, he is blind and has severe learning difficulties, he is going into respite care for two weeks so we can recharge our batteries and find CSV a fantastic place for us to chill out. Got lots of questions so bear with me.

I should have seen where else you had posted!! We were also there in 2005 in the sept.We sat in trotters bar all day watching the last day of the test match and englands glorious win!!!!!
We stayed at the Simar, not bad, but not like the first time we stayed there.
Still small world isn't it?

I am really impressed with the reports on CSV! I cant wait to get over now at the end of May with my parents. We have stayed in the Hotel CSV which was lovely, and walked up the rocks right to end with my son and his girlfriend when we were there in January. It was bright, chilly and oh so beautiful. The waves were high enough to be spectacular and catch the sun, but not too high as to spray you all the time!
We were definately a bit worried about the two new builds though, one looked as if it wouldnt stand the test of time of wind and rain, but then, Im no builder!!

Yes, it it sooo small this world, we were there also in sept 2005 for my 50th birthday.We also spent a lot of time in trotters for the football and the entertainment ( LJ was brill ).We stayed in the Don Pedro for the second time and the weather was awful!!We stayed for 21 nights and i know memories plays tricks but i'm sure it rained or was dark and gloomy for 14 of them...CSV is beautiful and we are hoping to go again this Sept. By the way, when we were there in 2005 there was talk of the don pedro being pulled down... what happened there?
