Transferring money sterling to euros

Anyone got any advice? Since we bouth our apartment last winter, I've been transferring money from UK to Bancaja via Moneycorp who give me a good rate if over £5k. I intend to transfer money once a quarter to service the mortgage and bills. Moneycorp have reduced their rate now I've told them this to £4 a transaction plus their going rate but anyone got any better ideas to kep costs to the min?

Hi Suse - we also bank with Bancaja - I suggest sending money from your UK current account to Bancaja in STERLING - your UK bank will charge you about £10 to £15 per transaction depending on the amount sent but Bancaja only charge 5 euros to convert it from sterling to euros when it hits your Bancaja account but you will get the full business exchange rate as there are no middle men involved..It takes about 4 working days for the money to land.For example if the teletext business rate says 1.25 euros = £1 that is approximately what you'll get minus the charges at both ends.If you think the rate will go in your favour Bancaja will even hold onto the transaction for a few days and convert it when the exchange is more favourable if you ask them to.I'm sure Fabio will show how it works if you ask him.

I use Bancaja also and have found the best way and fastest I just take in a cheque from my UK account and pay it in its cheaper and faster than transfering from UK.The cheque is made out in £ but always get the best rate and the funds are available usualy that day. I leave some cheques there and just take one in when I need to pay some money in
