I read that some tour operators and / or hoteliers are planning all inclusive deals to Puerto Pollensa next year. Does anyone resident in the Port know if this is fact and if so, which hotels.

Dont some places do that all ready, I believe you can go all inclusive at the Duva aparthotel

I think this gets mentioned nearly every year, i hope it doesn't happen because it would kill local bars/restaurants as has happened in Alcudia and other places.
While i understand the attraction of AI especially for families it is not something i ever wanted to try. I think the Pollensa Park did it on a small scale one year but it died a death.

We hope it doesn't happen too. Now and again we use hotels but the vast majority of the time it is villas/apartments and it would be criminal if such a move caused the closure of restaurants and bars as it has in many other resorts.

I can not see it happening, the core business is the package deals to the apartments and villas and the private rental market, you have only have to read the restaurant section to see how much eating out is part of peoples holidays,

I too understood that there are a couple of places in PP offering AI, and I would not be surprised to see a few more.

However, I don't think that a lot of the aparthotels are physically geared up to be able to offer AI; and also PP seems to have larger proportion of private apartment and villa rentals than some other resorts. So if a few more hotels do offer AI it should not be as serious a problem for the local bars and restaurants than it would be in a resort with a higher proportion of hotels.

Having had a conversation about all inclusive holidays in the car today with OH and youngest terrible teenager it was strange to see it pop up on the forum. Basically we are taking both teenagers and their girlfriends away next summer at the end of exams, so that will mean 6 of us away for a week which won't be cheap. Both teenagers requested PP and we have said no as we need to go on a last minute AI to keep costs down and I don't really want to cook for 6 on holiday :(. We have never been AI before, prefering to rent privately, but will give it a try, however friends who always go AI usually eat out at least a couple of times locally just for a bit of variety. If hotels offer AI then it will surely bring in a different type of holiday maker who would not usually visit PP and they must venture out at some point and spend something?

It most certainly will:rolleyes: No offence intended.

Agree with smiddy, wholeheartedly!

A number do already, but as PP isnt really hotel driven, hopefully it won't catch on. It's killing CSV:mad:

I think that for it to be financially feasable it has to be a large hotel offering this and fortuanltey we do not have many of these. I shall ask the Poll Park Manager whether it is true and report back. All Inclusive is fine along Playa de Muro -huge hotels, sea front position and not a huge choice of restaurtants within easy walking distance. We do not need it here in Puerto Pollensa although I agree it is an interersting offer for a family on a budget and it can be done in style - it does not have to mean cheap and tacky - it can be 4* with decent prices - but clients just know what the final price is and dont have to keep digging into pockets for an extra ice cream or fanta for the kids. Hardly any hotels even offer full board so it will be difficult for them to cater for all inclusive - food and drink on tap 12-24hrs. However, although I dont want it here in PP I would add not to knock it if you have not tried it.
