Back on topic! I put in my claim for transport (hire car), food/drink and accommodation costs to Ryanair upon my return to UK due to 7 day delay. As expected no response so then sent recorded delivery - again no response. Googled for ideas and found Irish Court charge 15 euro for small claims so decided to go this route. Really didn't see why Ryanair should pay but insurance company refused to entertain and I (and wife) facing penalty charges due to being self employed and not meeting contract conditions. Obviously employment problems were not reflected in the Ryanair claim but at least I thought a little bit of money would go some way to helping out.
I found out on Friday that Court found in my favour and with some deductions I should receive cheque by the end of the month. Throughout the process Ryanair have put a number of hurdles in my path but I have managed to overcome.

Well done Sun Properties,it just shows "if at first you don't succeed".Hope the cheque arrives.

Thanks for posting this as it might well help us. We have fired a letter back at Monarch now and returned their cheque for their first offer of £100.

I will wait to see what their response is but someone else has mentioned going to the small claims court. Do you know on what ground that the court ruled in your favour?

Thanks

Sorry cannot really help as when Ryanair didn't respond I decided to go the small claims (Irish Court) route. The Clerk of the Court then asked me to justify my claim (receipts) and then advised me Ryanair had made an offer which I accepted.
In my line of business I use the small claims procedure on a fairly regular basis and the UK internet claim form (usually sorted through Northampton Court) is easy to understand and pursue. Just make sure you have all the facts and ensure your claim is accurate and honest and can be totally justified.

That's great - I have everything and it is all legit.

Thanks for the help.

Can anyone help please? Has anyone been paid out by Monarch? If so, can you let me know either on the forum or send me a pm.
They have knocked our claim back again offering just £100 when it was nearly six times that and they are quoting all sorts of jargon. They will only pay an average expense rather than what was actually paid and are refusing to cover the repatriation to the UK as we didn't wait for a flight!

In December 2009 Easyjet cancelled my flights to/from East Midlands Airport due to `commercial reasons´. Although they did refund the cost of the flights they flatley refused to reimburse me for other costs (cancelled hire car, accommodation etc). After 15 months of bombarding them with emails and also pursuing a complaint through the Air Tranport Users Council I have today received a refund for my other costs. So - for those of you still trying to get recompense for cancelled flights - stick with it and don´t take no for an answer. It can be done.
