Saturday 25th June is Armed Forces Day, to do our little bit for our brave sevicemen & women we will be donating 10% of the days takings, so the more you eat & drink the more we will pay. You do not have to make any donations or sign up for sponsorships, just buy your food & drink WE DO THE REST. Thank you :) :)

Is this date Spanish armed forces day or British?

Bev and Tony i think it's a great idea and i am sure you will be supported here in PP, well done both of you.:D:D

Brilliant idea, well done. And I know at least one Pollensa Poppet will be supporting you very well! ;)

Get plenty of pies cooked then you 2 !!!

Shame I can't be there to attend.

Well done guys you deserve full support.

Sorry Sparky I couldnt disagree more. Lusty jingoism at its worst IMO. Why expats feel the need to express their "Britishness" in foreign countries I have no idea. This along with the "celebration" of the Royal wedding has IMO been an embarassment in a town famed for its "Spanishness". If Britain is so great why move elsewhere?

The argument of "celebrating" an armed force sent into foreign countries by governments to slaughter innocents for economic reasons is indeed an argument for another place but I find it tacky to say the least that this type of thing not only goes on in PP but is supported by people who should IMO know better.

Of course I expect this post to be deleted as my opinion isnt the norm, however I feel that those who would like to retain PP's charm should have a voice and not be drowned out by the clique.

Good work Can Balache, wish I could be there.

Rab, you don't have to support the war, but you must support the warriors.

A town famed for it's "Spanishness" well I'll be, there was silly old me thinking that with EL Burger king,Taj Kebap,The Golden Lion, Pub Imperial, O'haras, Fletchers, Australian Boulavard, Tex Mex, 24 Chinese establishments and a Kareoke bar not to mention Indian, Italian, Japanese, German & Swiss restaurants it was a pretty cosmopolitan town. As for "celebrating" their had been no mention of such just us making a small contribution to those who past, present and future have or will risk their lives, I'm sorry if that offends your SPANISHNESS but tough.:(:(

So do it in another place.

Im not sure if you have deliberately missed the point Graham.

As I said, why people who have left the country feel the need to display their Britishness in their new home I have no idea. This, along with the Royal wedding street party is tacky to the extreme. Magaluf anybody?

CB I will indeed be supporting British troops with you on Saturday and we will have a great time. BD, I will have a vino collapso or two for the Pollensa Poppets while I am there ;)

We are all able as mature adults to make our own choices in what organisations we wish to support (providing it is not at anyone´s risk or harm) , and should not be judged for doing so

Thanks for answering. I would not lower myself to reply.

And, well done on your effort to support our troops, believe me, they need it.
However to keep Pollensa et al happy, are you preparing a special menu with some rare delicacies such as 'Bah Humbug' for some.

cheers,

jimbo

I couldnt agree more with you Tont & Bev, if you want oldie woldie Spain to go the NON Tourist areas, like my little village Ariany with 2 litlle Mallorcan Bars, a tobacs that sell everything from cigarettes to Suckling Pig, But hey, they only pay there bills by the villagers with low rents in there bars, being in a Cosmopolitan/Tourist area our rents here in PP are at least double to our locals here, so anything that we can do to promote our venue, good causes, patriotic etc then we must.

Finally because we live in Spain, we choose to do so for the better life style for our families DOES NOT mean we are still English or British at heart. I know I am.

Well done Bev & Tony. Hope all goes well on Saturday and you have a good turn out
