Old photos and film clips of the Sea plane

Thank you SWS, what a fantastic find!

I have a number of old black and white framed photos of PP in my home, but those old films are really interesting.

Thanks so much for finding and sharing those.

No problem, I found them by chance, I was looking at a clip of the pizza guy in Trencadora making pizzas, there was also a clip of the chef as well, and one of the linked videos was the one of the seaplanes, I will have a search and see if I can find anymore tomorrow.
 
Great SWS - I've only watched the first one (and it kept sticking at a few points) but I wonder what happened to the plane that crashed and if the piece of debris floating in the sea was connected to that one.
 
Really interesting video, you just don't realize what a very busy place the military base was in years gone by.
 
Well done Sws, I remember one of my retired neighbours told me he once went to
PP by seaplane that took off from Southampton, I think it cost an arm & leg as it
was before mass tourism as today !
I am going to surf the net to see if I can find out more about it.

That one is brilliant too Sparky, you can almost smell the fruit and I love the donkeys, or should that be the other way around!
 
It's not old but I like this from the BBC: Wild Mallorca,

I have the high quality original broadcast version saved on my Topfield PVR for when I need a fix.

Wild Mallorca link - Brilliant video, a very good watch.
Always like to try and spot a Black Vulture or two when visiting PP.
Can be seen flying above PP itself, from the viewing place on the way to Formentor, the mountains around C.V., at LLuch, Cuber & Gorge Bleu reservoirs, etc., etc. Just have to keep an eye on the sky, they are there one minute and can be gone the next, they can cover vast distances quite quickly. Very impressive birds, you will know if you see one. They are nicknamed 'the flying plank' due to their 3m (10ft) somewhat rectangular wing-span.
