Sad news.
Heard today that a well known ex bar owner has sadly passed away. Rafel (known as Rafa) ran the "Pub Imperial" for many years but had to retire due to ill health, he was only 61 and his funeral took place this evening in the local church.

La Gola nature park visitor centre has re-opened
More news in the UH today,
Since the commissioning of the natural area of La Gola, in Port de Pollença, in 2010, have been detected more than 70 different bird species. This was announced yesterday during the visit of Minister for the Environment, Gabriel Company, and the mayor of Pollença, Bartomeu Encrypt, ornithological tourism center.

Agents of the National Police have carried out the dismantling of an organized group of thieves operating in the Island
During the operation, led by Group Robbery of the National Police, was arrested a total of six people who were charged with 23 burglaries in Palma and other eight recorded in the demarcation of the Guardia Civil. Specifically, recent assaults occurred in the towns of Bunyola, Santa Maria and Sencelles.

J. Frau. POLLENÇA The municipality of Pollença has taken steps to put a limit to the current overcrowding of tables and chairs belonging to different catering businesses that are located in the Plaça Major, the heart of the town of Nord. Currently it is estimated that in the square, the occupation of the road reaches the 900 seats (including chairs and tables), where the legislation is in force in the town, passed in 2002, allows a maximum of 750 seats.
The board of municipal government entity that has the competition for the occupation of public roads in the township, on Tuesday approved a new regulation which will have to submit all premises located in the square so that all they have neither more nor less, the exact number of seats that allow the old rules remain in force until the new ordinance, still in process, be adopted permanently.
Mayor Pollença, Tomeu Encrypt (PP), which met yesterday, along with the other components of the governing board, with owners of local restaurants, admits that this issue "has generated much controversy in the town" and that "there have been many citizen complaints by the brutal occupation currently records the square. "
The aim of the new regulation is that all premises have a license that meets local regulations 2002, which does not happen today. Encrypt notes that, based on the ordinance in force, "will be the maximum occupancy for each of the premises." However, most locals will remove some of the tables and chairs that now occupy the terraces on the Plaça Major. "Some places should regularize their situation at the license," he said yesterday Encrypt.
From next week, the municipality of Pollença starts notifying each local restore the exact number of seats that may provide in abroad. "The purpose of regulation is to avoid 'parts i quarts' and that all premises have the same conditions, by ordinance, to occupy the public highway."

No less than eighteen tons of garbage, plastics, wood, rope, shoes, bottles, etc.. were those that took Gadma volunteers with the assistance of the City Council of Pollença three of the bays of the municipality. Bóquer Cala, Cala Carbo and Cala Barques, in them from the sea on one side and their streams on the other, you get plenty of dirt to accumulate at the end of the day three truckloads of waste removed.
No less than eighteen tons of garbage, plastics, wood, rope, shoes, bottles, etc.. were those that took Gadma volunteers with the assistance of the City Council of Pollença three of the bays of the municipality. Bóquer Cala, Cala Carbo and Cala Barques, in them from the sea on one side and their streams on the other, you get plenty of dirt to accumulate at the end of the day three truckloads of waste removed.
So for all day yesterday, fifty volunteers, mostly coming from other parts of the island, resulting in the critical reason of the Councillor Nadal Moragues (UMP), noting that "it is a pity that only a half dozen have attended of residents of our town. "

As a follow up to the previous post i have been surfing the net to find out more about the building in the last picture, it's the disused carpet factory which is now a ruin and there has been a lot of debate locally about it.

Thanks Sparky, this has certainly helped with finding out a bit more about it. It was opened in 1922 and closed in the 1960's. That's about as far as I have got tonight!
