Can anyone tell me if there is any sign of refurbishments to The Oro Playa for 2013?

I fear that they are. This aparthotel was once very popular, but has become very run-down over the last few years, only opening for a very short part of the peak season. I believe that it also closed unexpectedly early in summer 2011 with guests being relocated at another hotel.

It needs alot of work to bring it back upto standard. It is a real shame, as location-wise, it is superb.

Oro Playa Hotel

The Oro Playa still looks closed but we did notice a few lights on in various rooms as we passed by last night. We wondered if they had workmen/women in doing some pre-opening work.

Just wondering if there is any thing update? We are due to visit 16 jun and have booked a refurbished apartment. Getting excited about our holiday.

I am still waiting to find out if the Oro Playa refurbs are under way . I too have booked a superior apartment but have been told by one supplier that there are none available as they have not been completed as planned. I was hoping that someone in the resort might be able to take a look for me . I don't imagine the apartments will be opening before the end of May anyway .

Superior Apartments are planned to be finished during this month (May), so
they should be finished before your check in.

The Oro Playa was in darkness when we walked past last night.

I'll try to have a look later today to see if there is much going on inside.

when i looked inside on Saturday, there looked as though there was work getting done somewhere in side and a skip to the side but i have to say it doesn't look atoll habital , bed frames in the front foyer , furniture pilled up mattress every where and the grass to the side very untidy paint work at front rust coming through
and a long way away from looking like a place to go on your hols yet unfortunately

Oro Playa Hotel

I popped by today and bumped into a man with a smart suit & clip board. He looked like he was 'in charge' so asked him what was going on.

He confirmed that several of the apartments were being upgraded and that the whole place would be open by the end of this month (May 2013).

Looks like there is plenty still to do, so hope that they will keep to schedule.

Thanks Lorenzo. Thanks for the update. Just need to decide if we should just risk it. Going mid June. Or could you possibly suggest a suitable alternative in the area. Looking for clean apts that are centrally located. We are a family of 4. 2 adults. 2children 3 and 5.

If you want that area I would suggest Flora Apts, just along from Oro Playa. They have been refurbished as well recently. Good luck

Many thanks for the updates on these apartments. We have had some lovely holidays in Oro Playa I do hope the refurbishment will be successfully completed in time. Any further updates will be much appreciated.

Not until September.... hope you will find them spick and span for your holiday in June. Perhaps you can let me know how you get on . The apartments are ideally situated but have become rather run down of late. It is good news that they are to be refurbished . Good luck!

I think you might be confusing the Oro Playa with the Duva aparthotel on the roundabout at Gommar lollipop. The Oro Playa is on the old Formentor Road near the Voramar supermarket and Coral restaurant.
