I read on their FB page last night that the Hotel Sis Pins is considering opening throughout this winter, i think it would be great if they did but the problem is will people be able to get affordable flights?.

Sis Pins - remaining open?

There are certainly far fewer flights during this coming winter :( which is a real shame and no shared shuttle transfers up to Puerto Pollensa either as far as I could see.

We have always used Monarch for flights from Gatwick to Palma during the winter but they have hardly any on their schedule now. I did spot some very cheap Sunday flights with Nowegian Air during the winter months though.

Maybe the Sis Pins Hotel could hook up with them and advertise as a joint venture?

They've left it too late to announce this. Most will have already booked accommodation and yes winter flights which match agreed annual leave for us workers, are much more expensive than when first released.
However, I will be looking to stay there for a few nights Nov 2014 if they are open. Give the Galeon some competition.

Well as most of us know they did have an arrangement with Globespan in the past, so why not find a similar airline to do the same???

Surely the airlines are missing a trick here? Mallorca is such a popular out of season destination offering walking, cycling and golf amongst so many other outdoor pursuits that are better enjoyed without the heat.

It's also a great short stay destination due to its close proximity to mainland Europe. Bizarre.

I think the problem is the influence that the big hotel chains have on the Government/Tourism departments.

They seem happy to make enough money over the 6 or 7 months of the summer then close down.

Only when the hotels remain open and market "Winter tourism" will the Airlines change their attitudes!

Sis Pins have now confirmed they are staying open all winter

Great news

That's great although its not possible to book it online, the link on this site to alpharooms says fully booked when I try winter dates (it cant be ?)
And suggests the Don Miguel instead.

Visiting the sis pins website directly to book also shows as closed November to end of march...

Hopefully someone will make some rooms available if they are open or it will be very quiet :)

OK i have just phoned the hotel and was told that at the moment they are only certain to be open for November but it could change :confused:, if anyone wants to make a booking it has to be directly with them via Email as the contracts with booking agents finish at the end of this month.

Their Email address is :- info@hotelsispins.com

typical bed and breakfast !!!!!

Alpharooms would allow me to book Sis Pins for February, but I have emailed the hotel for confirmation if they will be open or not.

That's marvellous :)

Good that someone is reading the forum and making rooms available to book today.

Lets hope that people book it and spend some money and support those that work hard in the winter months :)

I have just done a Search on AlphaRooms using the Search Box on our Hotels in Puerto Pollensa Page for w/b 13/01/14 (to include Sant Antoni) & the following hotels showed availability:

Don Miguel
Galeon Suites
Eolo
and Sis Pins!

Had a reply from Sis Pins earlier today saying they intend to stay open all winter:)

They must have forgotten to tell the girl on reception that i spoke to ;), this is good news though, not just for the tourists but also for the staff who will obviously be able to earn more money and of course the bars and restaurants will also gain........hopefully :D.

This has made the front page of the Daily Buletin. Here :- http://daily.evoluhcion.es/uploads/archivo/daily/portada.pdf

Pollensa.—ABritishhotelier is leading
the fight back to attractmorewinter
tourists and announced that his 52
room hotel in beautiful Puerto Pollensa
will stay open this Winter.
Owner Geoff Hopkins told the Bulletin
yesterday that he wanted to get
the ball rolling and encourage more
people to come here on holiday during
the Winter.
Geoff owns the Hotel Sis Pins in
Puerto Pollensa and it will be one of
the few whichwill be open this Winter
in the area.
It is good news for Pollensa andMajorcabecauseit
shows hatsomebusiness
people consider that it is an all
year around destination

I think you will find its Cappuccino wanting to stay open that has influenced this decision by he Hotel. And their presence has made this possible. So once again Cappuccino are proving to be a very valuable asset to PP. Long may they continue to grace us with their splendid establishment and influence and hopefully extend the season in the Port. :)

Let's hope Sis Pins get the customers now after deciding to stay open for the winter. Maybe a special offer on their prices will encourage more people;)
