Thanks for that Pescador. Not particularly happy with the proposed rise in traffic behind Llenaire or as you say, missing the coastal arrival. But hopefully it's what the majority are after for improved traffic flow.

I, for one, do not like the sound of the proposals - especially the car parking which will block the spectacular views! There is also a perfectly wide pavement on the beach side!

Where is the Scooter hire shop like the one in tv series Benidorm.
No cars more electric scooters.
Then watch out for yourselves !!!!!

I agree The Whole thing is badly thought out will create mayhem round the rest of the roads in the Port.
The Charm of PP is the front and the narrow streets etc etc do we want to kill its personality. BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU WISH FOR is what I say:)

Can I play devils advocate and just say that talking to people who have lived here for many years, nobody wanted the area between the marina and the start of the pine walk pedestrianised when that was planned. I guess we have to wait and see what effect it has, certainly the parking on the Vincent Buades is better for being face in.

I thought there was no money available for projects like this, as it will probably cost many millions of euros and provide no added value, only more change for the sake of it. I know this will be a big mistake for all, perhaps the restaurants will extend their tables out from their premises good for them I guess. I agree with FIL6699 be careful what you wish for !!!

That would defeat the object for people who are hoping for more walkway space definitely! "You can please some of the people some of the time ......" etc etc! :o

The council are very strict about bar/restaurant terrace space, every year they have to apply for a license giving details of table/chair sizes and they have to pay accordingly, so i think they will only expand if they are sure they will get bums on seats ;).

I would think they have a good chance of showing they could fill up seats for front line view restaurants. A good idea about size of chairs though.

Correct Sparky, the restaurants below us in Marina Appts were last week subjected to a thorough talking to by the Policia Local on more than one occasion regarding where their "Boundaries" lay. This eventually ended with all parties concerned moving their tables, chairs and signs to the satisfaction of the officers. Home now after 4 great weeks in the Port, wishing we were still there though.

Josep ( C'An Josep) has had to move his tables & chairs from the pavement for the last 2 years or risk a hefty fine.

Looking at the plans it doesn't look as if that stretch of pavement will be much wider - has anyone worked out the measurements?

Folks, All joking apart, it was only a matter of time before it was done in one form or another. As I have said before, If left as it was then they wasted their money building the new road around the back because hardly any one was using it. At any given time of the day if you stood there, you could play " Spot the car ".

i remember when the pedestrain area from hotel diana to sispins was for cars ,i dont think we complain about that now do we ?

Just get on and do it ASAP I say. Got to be a big improvement whatever system is chosen?

Personally I think it should be one way FROM Alcudia direction into PP.

G.Goffer. Please see my previous post regarding the plans (on p.2 of this thread) for a full summary of the overall proposals - (extract re paths widths shown below).

There appears to be improved / widened paths on both sides of the road - mainly after La Gola when travelling in the Alcudia direction. On the seaward side these are generally some 5m (16ft) in width reducing down to some 1.7m (5.5ft), but this only on the Alcudia side of the Av. de Llenaire roundabout.

I also agree with the 'npn' post (above) in that it will be an improvement and also that of 'meg1973'. Where I differ with 'npn' is that I think the direction is correct in order to keep a lot of unnecessary through traffic away from the sea front. Llenaire and Pinaret can still be accessed from the by-pass from the Alcudia direction as well as from the sea front road. Overall it has to be good for PP especially during the height of the holiday season. 'Most' road improvement or pedestrianisation systems do work and 'most' people wouldn't go back once a system has been I place for a while. The important thing is the improvement for and safety of pedestrians, locals as well as visitors.

Wasn't the hope that the pathways would be widened where the shops are? What is the point of widening them after La Gola? The system may well work for traffic flow, but doesn't seem to address the argument of more pathway space for pedestrians outside the shops where people complained about having to step into the road to avoid buggys etc?

Just looked at the plans for the first time today, my take is that the beach side of the path remains mainly unchanged, the stretch along the front from the canal towards Alcudia will have a wider paths on the opposite side to allow for cars to park and the road will be narrowed with a cycle lane, the stretch from the canal to the roundabout looks unchanged with the road as wide as it is now leaving room for two way traffic!! The one bit they need to widen by the shops looks the same!

As long as they don't do what they did in can picafort. They put the bike lane right next to the beach wall. You guessed it. People and children coming up off the beach straight into the path of on coming bikes.

Totally agree that it seems pointless widening the pavements after La Gola  It's the pavement up to the roundabout that needs widening! Also I can't really work out the plan that well but I think the cycle lane is next to the beach wall
