Semi-Pedestrianisation of the front line in PP.

Well, who would have thought it.. By the time they get this done, I'll be happy if I have not lost the ability to walk to enjoy " The Pedestrianisation "

Have just read in the TOTN that the work which should have started next month has been delayed and won't now begin until January .

OMG how ridiculous! What could possibly delay the work starting when it has been planned for ages to start in November?? Have a couple of the workers decided to take annual leave or do the JCB's need servicing?! The season will be over, the place will be deserted, so why can't flipping they just get on with it It's going to take a couple of years to complete the whole project anyway so it's going to look very messy the next couple of summers

Can you tell I really want this done, although still not happy it's only part pedestrianised.

Agree they should have went for part up to the bridge then full in front of the shops and restaurants, still this is better than nothing! They seem to be doing some preparation work at the end of your road at the front, had they been doing any more along there?

Absolutely sws it would have looked so much better to be totally pedestrianised by the shops and restaurants. I can appreciate they would need a service road, and like they do in many town centres just limit the traffic to delivery vans, and then only up till about 11am. But hey oh anything,hopefully,will be better than how it looks at the moment. My daughter was on crutches this summer and walking up the very narrow bit by the shops was a nightmare what with buggies and people suddenly stopping dead for no apparent reason. Others were probably thinking why are we having to go so slowly behind the young lady with crutches!! Although I have to add it's quite handy having a beautiful blonde who can literally stop traffic because she's hobbling along!

The work at the end of our road, and actually all the way up it, was filling in the large squares in the pavement where trees had once been planted. I would have preferred new trees but they did do a great job...the new paving is an exact matches...and at least now I don't have to navigate around the holes while walking home at night

Josep (Ca'n Josep) was telling me recently that he is keen for the council to get on with things - obviously would be good for his business. Next minute though he said he may relocate to Tango as the rents are going up noticeably!

You are right! Josep was deciding which premises to relocate to, and Tango Ca Vostra won! He will be working hard during the close of season to get it up and running, and has some very interesting ideas to make his mark in this lovely location. Looking forward to supporting him and Lucy in this new and exciting venture!

That explains why Josep's signage and awning have been taken down and no tables and chairs have been left inside! I was getting worried when I saw it last week.

It's great to hear that the lovely Ca Vostra venue is going to be kept alive by Josep moving there .

This is the cancer that haunts Port de Pollensa....Too few people own the Port, they see a successful business and raise the rents to almost strangle them.

Good luck to Josep....I think he's making a good strategic move.

As I understand it, 3 families actually own the majority of the port.

The latest news in this long running saga from the DDM :- Turismo abre la licitación para llevar a cabo las obras de semipeatonalización - Diario de Mallorca

Tourism opens the bidding for performing the works of semipeatonalización.

The mayor sees difficult than the first phase of the project can be executed before next summer.
The project will modify the circulation in the first line.

The semipeatonalización of the first line of Port de Pollença is a little closer to becoming reality. The consortium Kenya Tourist Accommodation, part of the Regional Ministry of Tourism has launched the bidding process works execution and rehabilitation project'reforma semipeatonalización the section of the MA-2220 road between the square of the driving of Llenaire and the roundabout at the end of the street Joan Moll XXIII''pollencí' for a total amount of 1.4 million euros, VAT included. Interested companies now have 26 calendar day period since yesterday, date of publication in the BOIB.

The consortium will provide the amount of 600,000 euros, while the municipality of Pollença invest about 750,000 euros. The deadline for execution of the works has been set at a minimum of six months and a maximum of eight, with no possibility of extending the project implementation. The intention of the City Council, will take the lead institution that works is to develop the project into two phases. The Mayor of Pollença, Tomeu Encrypt (PP), said yesterday that still need to study the deadlines and expressed doubts about the possibility of starting work soon for the first phase is complete before the next high season.

The invitation comes after the Minister of Tourism, Jaime Martínez, in February commit to "streamline" the project so that the work could begin this year, a discarded possibility due to the date on which, finally, has begun processing.

The semipeatonalización imply that the first line does not have a unique sense of movement but alternate sections with double direction with others that will only be allowed to circulate in Alcúdia sense or Formentor. The project includes a vial for the movement of vehicles and another for the nearest beach bikes and enabling battery car parks on the side of buildings in the first line.
