Just get totally drunk before going to bed, that usually does it for me....

Hi
Does anyone know if you can get a shut off switch for the air con unit installed . We re finding that some people who stay in our apartment leave the air con running all day while out and about . Just wondered if there was some kind of sensor or cut off switch available to bring our bills down ! We had it installed by a company in the port but I'm not back until oct to find out.
Thanks in advance :)

I know what you mean. The only thing I have noticed in other villas etc is a timer that cannot be altered. I assume you could get one fitted by a/c engineers. Try asking in Confort. I also think it may depend on how old the units are as to whether one can now be fitted to the system . It may be worth costing out the price of a new system with a regulator fitted, and the refitting hassle, to the cost of paying for extra electricity!

A din rail mounted time clock/switch is often the best way.
This mounts in the consumer unit on Din rail beside the circuit breaker for the aircon and the on/off times can be set so the aircon will power down during the daytime etc.
Some makes have battery backup so the time remains set the same after a power cut which helps avoid calls from renters saying the aircon wont work.

They don't cost much at all and it's a simple job for an electrician to fit.

Thank you both for replying and to you mark for the suggestion , I ve mentioned it to my husband and he said he needs to find out if the air con unit has it's own circuit breaker on the main panel as the power is supplied by a plug on the balcony .
Thanks again hope it's a solution :)

And thanks to you for bringing the subject up pansy! Has kickstarted me to pushing for an answer instead of just moaning about it! Will be visiting Confort for a chat ourselves in October! ;)

Haha bella !! Great minds think alike , we ve just emailed confort to see if anything can be done when we re back in oct !! I moan all the time about it and yesterday the final straw when our property management lady went in to find all air con on in all bedrooms with the doors shut ! She thankfully switched it off ,I don't understand people as it takes about 30 secs if that to start cooling a room !!

Well that's better than ours finding all the a/c on with the doors and windows open and everyone sitting outside on the balcony!! See you in Confort then! ;)

Oh no !! Makes you so angry ! I'll let you know the reply from confort when we get one :)
