A Fascinating Roman History of Pollensa/Bochorris

A lot of people know about the Roman history of Alcudia and the irony that it was the Roman city of Pollentia. We all know of the Roman bridge in the old town but I was fascinated to read today about the Roman federated city of Bochorris which was sited on the mountainside hill to the right of the road from the Port to the old town, around Boquer Valley. Incredibly the area has not been excavated but a bronze Roman inscription about the area was found in the Bay as recently as 1951. The previous one was found in 1765!

The Roman ruins at Alcudia have been extensively excavated Mark and are well worth a visit but the fascinating thing about Bochorris is that it is the untold story of Pollensa's Roman history and origins.

Scouse Mark, Alcudia old town is well worth a visit. The areas within the old Moorish walls are lovely. There is also a market twice a week.

There is an app for old alcudia , talking about important parts of the old roman ruins etc , very interesting if you like that kind of thing , which I do ! We love the old town of alcudia , hard to imagine 10 years ago no one wanted to actually walk about the place , now cafés bars boutique hotels , it's a lovely part of Mallorca and a lot of history in it as well
