I can't say but after reading some of the replies to this thread and to other similar threads, I think everyone has to be very careful.

The pickpockets are professional and are very quick in nicking your money etc. My husband seems to think that he was distracted by a deaf and dumb man in the supermarket. The man wanted help in reaching some cartons of milk on a higher shelf. My husband did his good deed for the day and helped him out and was duly robbed without knowing it. I didn't see any of this myself as I was down another aisle.

Just give the money to the women to look after! There aint nobody that would get my stash!

Seriously, it's true, they are professional and everywhere, not just PP. I've probably said it before but Barcelona is well written about and I couldn't believe how some people were leaving themselves vulnerable over there. One woman got mugged just getting cash out of an ATM in broad daylight on Las Ramblas.

I think PP is a world away from that, but not immune to opportunists.

Another distraction is for someone to ask for directions whilst someone else grabs your bag from an open door window of your car or from your trolly. Happens in many places just need to be on your guard. Such a shame as there may be someone who actually does ned assistance but are treated as potential muggers.

I think it is the ladies out there who do need to be the most careful - it is far too easy for someone to snatch a bag - over the shoulder is obviously far safer. My wife was mugged anf bag snatched in Alicante when there with friends.

I always remember when I worked for Peter Dominic (going back a bit now) and their advice to managers taking the shop takings to the bank was to put the cash in their pockets rather than a bag - they hadn't had anyone de-bagged (trousers) to date!!
