Howdy folks

what is the criteria to judge this on - best food or vaue for money.

Went to C'an Curassa and it cost €70 and the meal etc.was great. Went to Mirsch Masala and it cost €32 and it was also great. Ca'n Curassa was better but it cost twice as much. Which meal was best value for money - Mirsch Masala by far.

For me, neither. Or both.

I can only judge "best" for me on "most enjoyable". On a foody board I contribute to I've recently answered a similar "5 top favourite" question for 2011, so far - my answer includes three Michelin star places (in the UK, Italy & Belguim), a tourist restaurant in Tenerife and an Italian place an hours drive from home. All great evenings and, in their different ways, great food. Given the right circumstances, I can enjoy a meal at any level of restaurant if its done well.

Look at the rules guys & gals. It's entirely 'IN YOUR OPINION'.
Doesn't matter whether you like the food, the service, the decor, the overall ambience.
All these things will be different to different people. Just 'enjoy' and let the forum have
your own opinion. Your reasons why will, no doubt, be much appreciated by potential
customers of the places you visit and may also be informative to the restaurant owners.

Yes quite right Pescador, please can we now get back on topic and only post here with your "Best 5 restaurants".
Thank you.:)

Apologies. I had not appreciated that the board does not encourage posts that are not strictly on the topic. Please feel free to delete my contributions at posts #55 & #64 to tidy up the thread.

Following our most recent visit in June, where we tried out several new restaurants:-

1) Stay

2) Tolo's

3) Bellavista (vegeterian)

4) C'an Ferra

5) Los Faroles

Also worth a mention are:-

La Llonga

Golf Pollensa

Trendacora (Pollensa town)

Bistro Mar (Alcudia)

La Victoria

Cod father (for your fish 'n' chip fix!)

Most of our meals were excellent but the only place we wouldn't revisit is Tiberi in the square, very average food and where we were seated was like a transport cafe, with a wonky table and inatentive service.:(

I make that Bellavista up in to third place at the moment, very interesting.

Can I ask about Bistro Mar in Alucudia, is that run by the same people who had a restaurant by the same name in Cala Sant Vicenc?

Please can you start a new thread for this, we really need to keep this one for Your best 5 in PP. Thanks ;).

My Restaurant Choices 2011

Just returned from “eating around Puerto Pollensa” and these are my preferences:
1. La Llonja
My new favourite this year, last year this wouldn’t have been my top choice. We enjoyed 2 excellent meals here this year where the food and service (attentive but unobtrusive) were second to none. The location is perfect for relaxing and enjoying a perfect meal.

2. Stay
Last year’s favourite. This year although we had excellent food on both occasions, the second time we visited (no the Friday) things were a little chaotic; we had to ask for our wine several times and had nearly finished our starters by the time it came. Having said that the staff were excellent and I love the fact the owner maintains a “hands on” approach, no matter how busy and never fails to get around everyone to ask if they are enjoying their food.

3. Trio
This place is so underrated, but their menu of the day is such good value - where else can you get a 3 course meal for 2 including a botle of wine, water, bread and olives for 38 euros. Their salmon and prawn salad was my favourite starter of the holiday. We always come here on the first night of the holiday and are never disappointed. Would visit more than once, but there are too many other choices out there.

4. Maxim
Someone previously mentioned that it’s a lot better out of season and I agree. 4 years ago we visited in May and this was our favourite restaurant, we ate here 4 times. Sad I know, but the menu has lots of lovely choices and it has a lovely interior to eat in under the threat of rain! This year we really enjoyed ourselves again and I finally had the Thai green curry I’ve been meaning to have for years!

5. Guru
Great food from this little restaurant as always, although it does take a while to come. We highly recommend the sea bream and the pork wrapped in bacon.

top 5 restaurants in pp

1 Stay 2 Can Guarassa 3 Can Josep 4 Dragon Oriente 5 Tolos

1) O Lume 2) El Posito 3) Citrus 4) Los Faroles 5) Luna de Meil

Lots of debate on the top 5 with 6 people pushing for their favourites, therefore I have aggregated the scores as follows:

1. IRU
2. El Posito
3. Stay
4. Citrus
5. O'Lume

The problem (?) we have is that we are spoilt for choice with the excellent selection of restaurants. No doubt our top 5 will change next year.
