Bonanca

Hi Whits,

As these apartments are advertised as having a pool and bar, I think you might get your answer when making an inquiry about renting from the owner -surely they must know.....hope you find they will be operating this year.:)

Hi

If anyone does get any feedback as to whether the Bonanca is open or not in the Summer could you let us know. We always stay in an apartment just down the road and always enjoyed nipping in at the end of a long hard day for an early doors. We also actually stayed in the building itself a few years back and had a right laugh with the fellas who used to put on a great show a few nights a week. I'll miss them there.....

Bonanca update

Thanks Favie for the prompt response. I fully intend to speak with the proprietor before we confirm our booking. However, whilst I'm sure there won't be any 'deliberate' misinterpretation, I'd feel more reassured to here from independent sources the exact situation at the Bonanca before confirming.
Anyone out there able to provide a reliable update?

hi all, i'd rather not say atm where my info came from but i'm told that the owner has applied for planning permission to build on the tennis court and the area behind the bar/shop and hairdressers ie the pool area facing the old formentor road

i'm told that local owners are objecting to the proposal as there is an old bylaw in place stating that there has to be a certain amount of ground set aside for recreation purposes in the area

if i hear any more i'll post it

Manolo is painting our apartment block at the moment! When I'm out next week I'll see if I can find out anymore info on Bonanca

Gers, that sounds like very bad news. Here's hoping it doesn't happen - I have a 4 year old granddaughter who's learning to swim so that she can swim in the Bonanca Pool! I daren't say that it might not be there!!!!

It would be brilliant to get some more info from you and Debz. Thanks for keeping us informed.

All the best

bean counter, i too would be gutted if the bonanza was closed down, i have some great memories of the place i taught both my daughters to swim in that pool, had some great nights out with family and friends also, my late father in law getting half cut and falling out with my mother in law and getting earfull from her, spent a few bob in the place too :D

Spoke to Manolo when I was out a couple of weeks ago and he told me that Bonanca bar was up for sale. So it looks unlikely it will be open this summer unless they get a buyer quickly.

Bar Bonanca at back of Illa dór

The bar ( and pool) is closed with advert ´for sale or rent´.

I feel guilty - I told Mrs Clinkham that she should have let me visit the bar more often!!

The three brothers were great hosts - I hope they are OK. Any news anyone?

As posted previously, Miguel and Raffa are now running La Batucada, in Calle Llevant, which is just along the road from the old entrance to the Ivy Garden (now The Codfather). Same friendly banter - and they're open 'til. very late, so it's a great place to drop in for a late one.

If you enjoyed Juan and Manoli's cooking in Bonanca you might like to know that they've opened their own restaurant in the town. 'La Roca' is in Calle Vincens Buades (the same road as the sports centre). They've made a lovely job of decorating the place and on our recent visit the food, drink and service were superb.

If you're a familiar face you'll be bound to get a really warm welcome.

Well worth a visit.

Have looked at the menu and the cheapest starter is €9 main course €14:eek: Did not see a MDD seems a bit expensive in the current climate.:(:(

Is this the Bonanca Restaurant near the Illa Dor Hotel, as when we were in PP
at the end of May, it was not open ?
We found La Roca near cental Supermarket looked very nicely done, but similar
prices.

We,ve just arrived back after ten lovely days at the pollensa mar which is right next door to the bonanca bar which is up for sale. We wish we had the money to buy it as there is a need for a decent bar in that area.

Actually, I hope whoever buys it turns it into an apartment block

The nicest thing about that area is the lack of bars
