Passions are running high again regarding Bonys if you dont like the place stay away i like the nicer things in life but i quick drink in here is great for people watching. Have you really got the power to change things in the resort? No.

Nobody likes change but the resort wont be the same as 25 yrs ago fact.

I remember when the chip van was in the square and cars going all the way around it. Still the kids played and have a great time. No table and chairs outside then very up market.
Has it changed for the best its all a matter of opinion.

I agree with Eleanor and GG as will most people. Many years ago I remember passing through the square at the very start of our hol. The local Council workmen were landscaping and seeding the grassed areas. Before the end of our two week holiday the Council gardeners were cutting the grass believe it or not, they really were - perfect growing conditions. A few weeks ago (June this year) there was not a blade of grass or any landscaping to be seen, yes... the square is definately not what it once was.
I live in a traditional British seaside resort that tries to keep up with the times. Parts of it are really nice, but some parts, like some of the 'itinerant residents' are a bit grotty. I would say that P.P. has kept up a reasonably good standard. Away from the square the views of the bays from the Pine Walk in the north and Llenair in the south are still absolutely wonderful, they don't change. The weather is generally much better than here in the U.K. and there are literally dozens and dozens of wonderful restaurants and cafes to choose from. Not so here in a typical English resort, nowhere near the same standard. In summing up, P.P. still has a lot going for it and it still has the ability to attract us P.P. fans back year after year. I just hope it can hang on in and continue to be the decent, upmarket resort we all crave for.

It is obvious that all things PP are intertwined - tangents occur. :) A thread goes where a thread is blown - somebody blow it back to Bony's now

GG

Absolutely GG and the thread IS linked indirectly to Bony's anyway. I will resist tempation of making a link to "blowing" it back to Bony's and Jose's alleged antics

I thought this thread was about Bonys

Thank you Sparky. Yes it is & this post is running along the same lines as another one. So please keep this one on Bony's & post here if you have any more news. Thanks. :)

I agree with you sparky, Im sure the alleged antics are rumours. We have just got back from PP and saw none of the mentioned tricks. Jose was doing magic tricks with tables and throwing sweets onto tables with kids, much to the amusement of all concerned. I would be interested to hear from anyone who saw him blowing skirts up etc.
He has got all the signs back, yes and in my opinion they are tacky but thats the nature of the bar. Walk past if you dont like it.
I would like to add that while we were over, Jose had 8 chairs stolen from outside Bonys one night. He was naturally upset about this as they were the new expensive rattan type chairs he is bringing in to improve the overall look outside the bar. He put a message up asking for information (in Spanish only, does that mean he thinks its a local rather than a holidaymaker?)
He was quieter than normal and I think all the sweet throwing etc is him putting a brave face on trying to get things back to the old successful days at Bonys. He also wore a shirt with a message on the back along the lines of " To all peoples who drink at Bony's, THANKKYOU, without you Bony's is nothing"
In my opinion he is an eccentric yes, but is a genuine family/kid loving man with his heart in the right place.

Hi Gemma, i had not heard about the stolen chairs before now. As i said before "Talk about kicking a man when he is down". I sincerely hope the culprits are caught

Me too. I dont know if there is some kind of consipracy against Jose (perhaps people were jealous of his success?) But for 8 chairs to be stolen is awful. When I sympathised with Jose he put a brave face on and said "It wont really affect me......I never get chance to sit down anyway!"
I for one wish him every success,he is a genuine guy trying to make a living and put a smile on peoples faces. And I cant understand people wanting to knock him.
Perhaps the old saying "If you havent got anything nice to say........" is apt here??

Well said Gemma. Thanks for posting in such a positive tone. I agree with what you say. I thought Jose was definitely quieter and was surprised to read of his alleged carrying on on here. I was there the night he opened and he only had one peg on his trousers (if you haven't been to Bony's that sounds strange thing to say doesn't it!) Hubby pointed it out to him and he said "well - maybe more in time". I thought that maybe reflected how he was feeling.

I am not a regular to Bony's but it certainly doesn't offend me. It is a PP institution and people love Jose's humour and his warmth with the kids. He works hard and I wish him all the best.

Well Said Gemma
I was a victim of his humour a few years ago, but hey I was on holiday!!
The man was truly genuine and thanked us afterwards for making the evening a fun time. Jose is one of lifes characters who is trying to make a living doing what he does best, he has proved that he can be knocked down and bounce back. I to wish him every success

Gemmakate, I was that soldier. I was sitting with my wife when Jose threw some sweets at a kid and gave it a fright. The baby started crying, Jose came back out with a big bag of sweets but it still wouldnt stop crying, he then appeared with the famous blower, and blew it up the mothers skirt, the father wasn,t too pleased. Later a young girl got the same treatment and stormed out
drawing me daggers as I was killing myself laughing. It was only later my wife said how would I feel if it had been our daughter. It doesn,t bother me personally, but I think he is maybe pushing it a bit with this carry on. Anyway, I saw it,I like Jose and have no axe to grind.GPM

I agree with pescador. We live in Southend on Sea and so am able to relate to everything you have said here.

Having read all these messages. I really feel that next time I'm in Pollensa I will visit Bony's and make my own mind up.

Perhaps his actions are in response to how he assesses his clients and their personalities. It sounds as if it is his idea of fun - perhaps it is - who knows BUT I intend to find out for myself prior to making judgements.

Eleanor you are so right to do that, as you are obviously very new to the resort you really should find out for yourself and not just take other peoples word for it. I was brought up to speak as i find and not follow like a sheep.;)

Serious question. Do you think Bonys (Jose) and his "famous blower" enhances PP? Would you be happy if this happened to a member of your family? I fear for the guys sanity and I fear for the future of this wonderful place if his anticts arent addressed.
