Have to agree with the Baron. In all the years we have been in Pollensa you can count on one hand the amount of crime we have direct knowledge of. Pollensa is one of the safest holiday destinations in my opinion. As I have already said it is just important to remember the very basics and to act as you would at home.
For anyone thinking of coming to PP, please do not be put off as crime here really is the minimum.

I seem to remember threads of this nature over the years and it normally comes down to the fact that whilst on holiday we all drop our guard as far as property security is concerned, thus giving the chance to the opportunist thief. The car parked outside a villa, boot open whilst the owner transfers the contents into the property, the shopper with a wallet full of cards and currency in his/her back pocket for all to see and the hot days and nights with doors or windows left open for our comfort. All these are like a magnet to the eyes of the thief.
As has been said many times, PP is a very safe holiday destination but like everywhere these days, there are people around just looking for opportunities to "re-patriate" someone elses belongings.
If we just think before we act and remember to look around us, think and assess the risks, which although are very low, do exist, as they do everywhere else in the world.

That's it in a nutshell! Both our break-ins were entirely due to negligence on our part and were really a wake-up call. I would urge any villa owners to consider installing automatic electric gates, particularly if your property is empty over the winter - OK, if you were really determined you could still get in, but they make it a lot harder and you do actually feel safer when there, knowing an opportunist thief can't just walk in off the street. So far we have had no problems since putting ours in place.

have seen the gypsy carnation sellers on the pine walk several times this year already. Pickpockets regularly work the no 2 bus route(mainly at the stops when people are crowding on the buses)Lots of people on holiday leave doors and windows open when they leave their aprtments or villas, thieves know this. PP has low crime but low crimed oesn't mean No crime. Just spend all your money in PP and there should be no problem

Not good news. We own an apt in that area. We do always put the electric blinds down at night and when we are out, but it is worse everywhere due to the economic climate. I think it is possibly worse nearer the bigger cities on the mainland.
I think PP is still a relatively safe place to live and visit. It is a family resort and have never had any trouble there.
