I was very sorry to discover that Brisa Marina, a regular favourite of ours for over 20 years, has changed hands. The new owners are Mystic, a group that owns other restaurants in north Mallorca. The restaurant looks exactly the same but there’s a new disappointing menu, with most seafood at “market price”, and a huge increase in cost. Rumour has it that Francisco has retired and when we called in today only one of the staff remained.

This used to be a very popular place frequented by the locals, but it all seems overpriced and has nothing like the good value and diverse menu that it did before. I’m sorry to say that I’ll be giving it a miss!

We are so sorry to hear this. Been going for more years than we can remember, before the extended area. Didn't think that Francisco was his usual self last September . Going on your information we will also give it a miss.

Sign of the times.
No money in selling food unless it’s centralized and in scale.
Stay was one of the first to start the ball rolling.
Hibiscus is also up for transfer, as apparently are more than 20 others around Pollensa and the Port.

So sorry to hear this. I've said before, by the time we can return, there's going to be so many changes and not necessarily for the better. A big part of our holiday was doing the rounds of our favourite restaurants. If the 'take overs' result in overpriced menus, it's going to change everything...I my opinion!

That is sad news indeed. It was my favourite seafood place in PP.
My father was in the fish trade.
He considered fish restaurants to be con merchants.
A majority of what is sold as “fresh” is either farmed, frozen or both.
The two well known fresh fish restaurants in CSV are also part of the group, as is apparently, Centric.
Not to mention two large ones in Pollensa town and Alcudia.
Restaurant groups are basically money laundering operations and not foodie ones.
Which is why small individual ones can’t compete on price alone.

Oh that is sad and another old favourite of ours over the years going. We used to love sitting in the front, people watching and enjoying bood fod and wine and friendly service.

Centric is not part of that group. It is now owned by Julie, from Siurell.

Excuse my ignorance but is Francisco the guy who invariably took your (starter/mains) orders. Not very tall, slim with darkish hair ?

I stand corrected.
The owner of the group that has taken over Brisa Marina used to be a shareholder in Centric before it was sold.
I also wondered if he was going to purchase Can Ferra, which had been up for sale for quite some time.

Yes, Q11 is part of the Mystic group. Can Ferra has been sold to some of the staff from Tierra del Fuego.

Blooming heck...another favourite changing hands - loved their paella and their tumbet. Thought they did the new extension very well, but use to love the old mezzanine area being used. Very sad.

@Jo Roche
welcome to the forum or rather thank you for your first message ;)

Brisa Marina (new version) certainly off the list.

The locals won’t be happy, it was such a popular place for Sunday Lunch Paella. It opened in 1998 and we started going in 2000, so it’s a massive disappointment for us that the restaurant that we have visited for longer than any other is getting poor reviews. Very sad.

Shame, used to really like Brisa Marina but mainly for lunch. Very handy as we usually stay directly above the restaurant.
It's sad that a number of restaurants over the years think that they can reduce the levels of service and food just because they are right on the beach. Sounds like it will be off the list for June.

I prefered it when it was Bona Cepa!

It’s a very sad thing thats happening to all our eateries at home and abroad the standard of food in most places at home means that we very rarely eat out. It’s so sad that it’s happening abroad especially in PP the happiest memories we have is eating in family restaurants drinking wine with nice food and watching the world go by. While listening to the happy chatter of folk enjoying themselves, I think it’s a sign of the times it’s happening everywhere and a lot of people seem quite prepared to put up with being served frozen and microwave food thar!!these chain serve but being a bit of a foodie they’re not for me!!

That's the only to make changes - vote with your wallet. Plenty of other great places to try
