This could be good news for all you property owners, taken from the Majorca Daily Bulletin . Grupo Serra Newspaper . Daily Press . News in English . Online Digital Information . Palma.—On February 27, the Kingfisher Group is going to create 60 new jobs on the island when it opens its first branch of Brico Depôt in front of IKEA.
Kingfisher’s main retail brands are B&Q, Castorama, Brico Depôt, Screwfix and Koçtas. Kingfisher also has a 21% interest in, and strategic alliance with Hornbach, Germany’s leading large format DIY retailer and is the market leader in most of the countries in which it operates, including China.
Here in Spain it has 19 branches of Brico Depôt, which is the British group’s French arm, and the Palma super store will become its 20th in the country.
The new super store will cover an area of 7'545 square metres with 2'017 of those square metres being outside for construction material, and parking for 317 vehicles.

Interesting - Andy will probably be just as pleased as Chels ( lol )

On similar subject ( just about close enough to be on thread ) what was the shop that was about to open in Palma where people said did good quality towels - surprisingly

ADLI ? MATALAN ?

And did it ever open ?

Slightly off thread but in answer to the question, Corte Ingles do a beautiful range of quality towels in a rainbow of colours. The sort of towel that you go "Ah" when you use them.

cd I think there was talk of a Primark opening a while ago but it hasn't happened yet. Their luxury towels are as good as John Lewis but a fraction of the price.

Primark - thats who it was ...... thanks and a shame they are not yet open

Brilliant shop too and quite huge. Poor Leroy Merlin was quite empty last week in comparison. Good prices too.

Hmm, it's not bad. But as with everything you do get what you pay for. They seem to have several lost leaders and other stuff notching up the same kind of price if not more expensive than leroys. I have been a few times now but each time have stood for 20 mins in the queue...perhaps it's a teething problem, but its been quite amusing watching the locals leave their baskets and trolleys and just walk out!
Leroys seems to have bounced back as its packed again. Always good to have that extra choice though!
Happy shopping!!
