Hi all ....... I know there's a couple of other posts about this , but can anyone advise what arrangements you need to make to visit ? Just turn up, phone, days closed etc ?? Also, any chance of some directions, their web site map is a wee bit iffy. Is it reasonable taxi distance from PP ?

Ta much, Mick.

you have obviously read my posting on Can Vidalet - an epic! I was trying to trace backwards to find Queleys directions but no success so far. Try to find if Queleys still posting and get in touch again with him?her (sorry!) It does say on my posting which day it was closed then, probably the same now. no need at all to make arrangements, just turn up, its quite small and modern though, not a long dark cave type of vinyard - but good wine and thats the best reason!! Very friendly people there too. Will try to trace directions again or if I can find their brochure, will pass on website adds. Directions may well have changed anyway because of all the road changes.

Thanks Snowy / Belladonna ..... if you get any more info, please let me know.

Mick

Hi, just seen this thread and hopefully you have now found directions but if not:

From the new roundabout in Pollensa (one with the large iron cockrell) take the old road to Alcudia number 220-1 (or the first exit off this roundabout if coming from Palma). Continue along this road for approximately 1.5km and you will see a sign for Can Vidalet on the left hand side. It is the first track after the yellow 5km stone marker. Turn left onto this (bumpy) track and Can Vidalet is straight ahead.

Many thanks for the directions. Intending to visit when we're next across - only 29 days to go !!

Cheers, Mick

Could anybody recommend a good, Mallorcan, medium white wine, where in PP to get it and is it available in the UK?

Hi Hoopy,

Relying on memory again, but I'm sure Pollensa recommended the Miquel Oliver Muscat:

miqueloliver.com/cgi-bin/vins_ang.cgi?action=filtre&valor=muscat

It should be available in PP - try Caprabo, they have a good selection.

I haven't seen any Mallorcan wines available in the UK. They are gradually becoming more well-known, but they are still having to compete with wines from mainland Spain and the costs of importing are expensive compared with the demand for them.

Re: Ca'n Vidalet

Sticking to the heading - must actually recommend the Ca'n Vidalet! First tasted in Bogavante in Puerto de Alcudia - another recommendation - and then bought at the Vinyard. Had the 2004 at the time, which was delicious, so fully intend to try what ever comes next in a couple of weeks time!!

I dont think it is available at retail outlets at the moment, although that may have changed, but the vinyard is a good hours distraction out of the heat anyway! :p

Ca'n Vidalet - the epic continues!

On arriving at our apartment this weekend, first job was to open up the lockup and retrieve stashed bottles of wine. Much to my amusement (>: ) hubby had left the keys back in the homeland! Undaunted, we drove back to C.V. for a stockup trip.
The vinyard is improving and expanding everytime we visit, although still keeping its personal touch with Sarah now at the helm. They have introduced wine tasting times on a new terrace, with 3 different options and prices - check out their website for upto date info.
They are also planning to open a restaurant there in the future, as Sarahs partner is a chef at a well known hotel on the island, I wont mention which one incase he is intending to leave!
They have now introduced their Cava, which is very palatable, with not quite as much fizz as traditional cava.
This visit, we found we preferred the blanc de blanc to the chardonnay; which we had tasted at Iru in the port the night before, the chardonnay is a little dryer than the 2003 2004; the blanc de blanc lovely and fruity.

Sarah also intends on marketing ladies t shirts now with their logo on!
A lovely vinyard to visit, and a group visit should be very interesting for the wine and biscuit tasting. Phone up beforehand for a reserved time.

SO, we then bought 6 bottles of the blanc de blanc, 2 bottles of the cava and 1 bottle of merlot. Long and short of it is, forgot about the restrictions; attempted to take 4 bottles back home in hand luggage; obviously stopped, no way risking putting in case, so, easyjet guy got a lovely pressie of Can Videlet wine. Again - I was amused >:

Re: Ca'n Vidalet - the epic continues!

That makes it that you left 3 bottles for me, many thanks Bella will drink you health, or did you by any stretch of the imagination consume the other bottles ??:eek :eek

As if I need ask you had to make sure they were not off.

Re: Ca'n Vidalet - the epic continues!

'Fraid the boys are over before you Snows! Nice try though!! ;)

Just to resurrect this thread, had a bottle of the red and white Ca’n Vidalet as part of our welcome pack this year, both were very nice especially the white and as they were free they tasted even better.

Brilliant :)welcome! They really seem to be expanding now. Keep trying to get on one of their tasting sessions with lunch, but get sidetracked. Must try harder!

Mmm.. the cellar tour takes all of two minutes if I remember correctly, unless they have extended now. So the tasting took up the rest of the time then!!! Did you have any nibbles etc? which package would you think would be the best to do?

Was just about to do a search on them again and hit the wrong page, came up with a wine seller advertising sale of the wine!!

Characteristics: A twinkling ruby red in the glass, this is a beautifully balanced wine with an aroma of very ripe red fruit, berries and fried apples.
