Buenos dias! My partner Mike and I are in PP for a week and are really up for the car boot sale in Consell on Sunday; however we have looked into getting there without a car and it seems quite a mission! If any of you kind locals are heading there and have space in your car, we would love to tag along. We would of course pay fuel costs.
Muchas gracias! Fiona

We visited this 2nd hand market a year or so ago and must say how disappointed we were to find such expensive rubbish. We hoped to find unusual things but frankly found things suitable only for the tip. We may of course visited on a bad day but speaking to an English stall holder it seemed the norm. Be interested to hear others experiences.

Perhaps there is something similar closer to PP?

Yes Eleanor, as has been posted on the forum calendar, a second hand market will take place tomorrow 14th July in the Jardins Joan March, Pollensa from 10am til 2pm :D.

Ok that's interesting, thanks both. Have either of you ever spotted any records at any 2nd hand sales? That's what we're particularly looking for.

Ps I can't seem to locate the forum calendar. Can you show me where this is please Sparky? Thanks :)

Sorry i have never been to one of these sales Fifi so can't help you but i am sure some of our members will be able to advise you :).

If you look at the blue bar below the header of this page, about halfway along it says "Calendar", click and it will take you to it.

Cheers Sparky. Is the market tomorrow in PP or Pollensa town itself?

Sorry Fiona, I'm afraid I really can't answer if there were any old records for sale as can't remember. I just remember it being full of what I would class as expensive rubbish. But as said before each week will probably be different anyway.
You may be lucky at the Pollensa market tomorrow or have you thought of the charity shops locally? Good luck with your search.

Thank you Eleanor (must change username from fifi; makes me sound like a poodle). We found a couple of good bits in the charity shop yesterday and will definitely check out the market in Pollensa tomorrow. Thank you Sparky for clarifying (the calendar entry referred to PP).

Oh yes silly me - I'm clearly on island time already and don't know what day it is! Majorca is working her blissful magic :)
Also, last time we were here I stumbled upon a fantastic contemporary art gallery full of interesting things (jewellery, paintings, sculptures) made by local artists, but I can't remember where - any ideas please?

(in back streets of PP - thank you)

Do you mean the place in C/Joan XX111 just along from the Cellar La Parra, sorry i have no idea what it's called.:)

Consell is a very mixed market with several very old antique type stalls, some flogging new gear, go every 6 months because it is a nice way to spend a few hours.
There is stall. Selling fantastic ensimadas (pies) on one of the early stalls ,it's worth the trip to buy these.

There are a couple of art galleries on the left as you come down the main road before you get to the roundabout at the port, or maybe along the Formetor road, the are a few place along there that sell arty things?

Cheers v much all! We are still really up for Consell as it's always fun to have a dig around so if anyone does hapen to be going and have space in their vehicle our original query still stands!
As for the art gallery, it had really odd things like a pharmacy cabinet full of weird sculpture and plastic bags on the walls containing syringes and stuff - quite Damien Hirst! - and really original jewellery made out of fabrics. I'll have a wander around the places you've all v kindly suggested thus far.
Thanks again x
