Does anyone know if a car owned in PP is insured for other drivers to use
or do I have to name other drivers on the insurance as in the UK ?
I was told in Maderia all you do is insure the car. Thanks..

As you say in some countries (Canada is a case in point), the car is insured without specifying who may drive, so anyone can.

Despite what you say, you can get cover for "Any Driver" in the UK - but it costs a good deal more than specifying named drivers. I suspect that the same applies in Spain.

Here's one tip (I'm an insurance broker, by the way), in the UK cover restricted to Husband and Wife Only is generally cheaper than One Named Driver. Funny old world!

We have just renewed our insurance with Direct Line Spain cover is for any driver over 25 yrs

I insure my car for drivers over 40 and I think it is a little cheaper.

I was told by the people at Direct Line when I was trying to sort out some insurance for us to drive whilst in UK that in Spain it is the car that is insured and in UK the driver.
