Suppose this thread may well be moved to ... Living and Working ..... but in my experience the cars (to buy) are no more expensive than on the mainland/UK particularly if you look around. Maybe the garages in the Port (those selling s/h cars) are expensive but a trip into Palma/Inca and you will find cars ar a reasonable price and often with a low mileage due to their island only use. Hire cars can be expensive unless you book well ahead however this is IMO common for europe. There are a couple of places to leave your car at the airport - one in the airport car park (around 900€ p.a.) and one just off the airport site (620€ p.a.). Having done a fair amount of research into buying (LHD) in the UK and taking to the Island I cannot see the (financial) advantage in doing so however there are a few models of car which sell at a premium on the island. Just to reinforce my comment re hire costs we booked early for 2 weeks at Easter for 146€ and 3 weeks in July for 327€ ~ try getting that cost now!
