Celebs in PP

My wife, having seen his 'photo in today's Daily Express, is convinced she saw the racing cyclist Bradley Wiggins in the Cappuccino bar in PP in both April and June this year.

He was with his wife and 2 young boys, maybe had his parents or in-laws with him?

Was she seeing things or can I tell her that her imagination is not running wild?!

Could have been, cyclist love the island and the big teams spend a lot of time training in the winter, although with it being June and close to the start of the Tour de France, I wouldn't have thought he was on holiday! If it was him it certainly is helping him at the moment

It probably was him - he does stay in PP most (possibly every) year in the spring/early summer and trains there, and he does bring his family with him. I think in the past he used to stay above the Galeon restaurant.

Wiggins and Team Sky were based at the Vanity Golf hotel in Alcudia, before and after Christmas and then again briefly in June for some pre-Tour de France training.

I know team Sky train in Mallorca and in the PP are, I've seen them.

He's doing well leading the Tour de France. Celebrity or no celebrity he's doing Britain (and PP) proud and that's what really matters.

I have to say i have never understood this fascination with "celebrities"......i much prefer meeting real people. What i have really enjoyed about living here is meeting up with and chatting to forum members, it is great to be able to put faces to names although i confess i am not very good with names but i do remember faces and my list is getting longer all the time.

Same here Sparky. Every morning when I go to shave I see this guy and just can't put a name to the face.

Well we arrived today (fabulous weather by the way ). As we joined the passport queue - I heard a 'we've got a celebrity' & there was Gary Lineker standing by the queue as if he was waiting for someone to join him & then wandered back to find his missing companion(s) - so look out for him... assuming he's in Pollensa

Yes that is correct, he was sat on the table next to us in stay in 2010.

He was eating in Na Ruixa tonight. That's a restaurant we have'nt been to for years but may have a rethink now

I think he has a apartment in Bellresguard ,we stayed next door to him a few years ago...I see him most years ,sometimes at Tolos having a morning coffee.

Wiggins returns for family holiday
Palma.—The greatest cyclist in the world right now, Bradley Wiggins, made no secret that, as soon as he could after the Tour de France and competing in the Olympics, he would be flying out to Majorca with his family for a well earned holiday.
And, true to his word, he arrives today having become the first Briton to have ever won the Tour and gold in the men’s time trial last Wednesday.
Wiggins just loves Majorca. Not only has he, with the rest of the British cycling team and now Team Sky trained on the island for over a decade, he also comes on holiday here.

Wiggins, who has not had a proper break since last November, after his recent achievements could probably have picked any where in the world for a holiday. But, for Bradley and the family, it has got to be Majorca.

Wiggin’s Tour de France and subsequent Olympic success has helped to put Majorca in the spotlight as a major cycling destination with the British media having published a host of features about the island, what it has to offer cyclists and how to follow in Wiggins’ training footsteps.

An estimated 50'000 cyclists come to Majorca every year, mainly in the Spring and the Autumn, but none of them as famous and talented as Bradley Wiggins.

After a hectic and draining few weeks on the sofa watching the Olympics, it is reported that El Gordo may be making an appearance in September.

Watch out for him seeking out the live music around the port.

He is even rumoured to be turning up at forum meet ups if he can get up that early and get the day right!!
