At lunchtime i really enjoy a chilled glass (or bottle) of Rose, i noticed many restaurants have the same house wine, i think it's called Nibola? Has anybody else tried it? i looked in shops for it and found it on my last day in the littele supermarket just up from Restaurant Coral (towards boquer valley) for 4euros!! couldn't beleive it was so cheap, very dry and crisp, tastes like a good quality wine. Can anyone confirm the name and if they have seen it in the port for sale this year, many thanks. Liz :)

... we love that first glass after the heat of the beach!..

Love the taste of a Penedes Rose ...we get some looks when we stock up on a couple of case at Alcampo!...

Not long now!!!

Have to confess to having a glass or two of Rosado whilst we were there! :o

And ...er... a bottle of Bach from the supermarket only cost €2!!!! ;)

Sounds like plenty of wine on the balcony before we go out for dinner is the way to go this year, at €2-€4 euros a bottle think we can afford to go wild and have a bottle each before we go out

That sounds good Joanne! Splash out and pop into the Voramar supermarket for a bottle of chilled Freixnet demi sec cava for only 5.50 - its up the back on the left of the bakery. Yummy as any Moet Chandon IMO!

Like Frexinet and the Vormar supermarket their cakes are delicious

Wine and More Wine

Just checking, is the Voramar the mini supermarket on Pine Walk near where the nice furniture shop used to be? Thanks

I love Macia Batle rose during the summer months as lots of flavour and lovely aroma - very fruity (rasberries and strawberries) and very moreish. Not a cheap one but worth paying that bit of extra for a decent wine. Think it is about 7 or 8 euros in supermarkets - just realized I have not had any this year - I have bought it at the Cellar over the last couple of years so must pop on down.

For all you fans of Marques de Riscal Reserva 2003, it's currently on offer in the UK at Sainsbury's with £3 off.

Can anyone reccomend a nice white - im a big lover of Australian and New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc like oyster bay, villa maria and nobilo would love to find similar in pp

Rachel

J Ferrer blanc de blanc and Macia Battle whites are good - very dry like the sauvignon blancs you mentioned. These are both Mallorcan wines.

Regards

Sharon

Great ill give them a go next week thanks sharon :)

Strangely enough I found the cheapest place for Macia Batle Rose this year was the British Food Shop opposite the Flora! It was less than 5 euros and absolutley delicious chilled. Also really well priced in the Tabac on the front close to Bar Imperial (just over 5 euro I think). I managed to bring a few home wrapped in the beach towels which was just as well as I could only find Macia Batle red in the airport.

Is that the Tabac just before you turn the corner for the bakery and in turn the street C`an Ferrer is on ? It`s just that it would be alot closer to me than wandering all the way to the british food shop. TT

Hi TT

Yes that's the one. They had quite a good selection when I was there in July and most seemed reasonably priced.
