Please can anyone tell me, if I see Bacalao on a menu, will it be salted cod or is Bacalao used for both salted and fresh?

I must admit I had thought virtually all cod served in Spain was salted, but obviously well soaked to remove the saltiness - I can always detect a certain salty flavour in cod I've had there, but maybe I've imagined it!

I had the same problem for ages until I stopped having salt on the rim of my cocktail glasses and cut out Tequilla shots.
Sorry I could not resist.
Best cod I have had is at Can Surriell.

I thought the same too.

The Spanish/Mallorcans do tend to use quite a lot of salt...Bacalao con Tumbet is excellent in Bar Coral.
