Considering a first holiday in PP this summer

Type in the search box anything you need to know and shld then be able to find what you are looking for. There is a forum meet up every Tuesday where you can meet other members. I've not made one yet but I will .. Promise Sparky!! As for eating out, we are also on a tight bugdet, but still find plenty of places to eat. La Cabana is one I Would recommend, the Tapas is lovely!

Georgia I would recommend Cala st Vicente which is a 15 minute bus ride from PP. It is a beautiful little bay and your girls will be able to snorkel amongst 1000's of fish. They may even spot a squid

And also Georgie, PP has restaurants that cater for every budget .

And make sure you check the menu del Dia for the best deals in the restaurants Georgia. Any problems you can always get on the WiFi and ask the forum!

Hi Georgie

The hotel you have chosen is in a beautiful location - I'm really jealous. If you like cycling and snorkelling I recommend hiring some bikes and heading for Cala St. Vicente which is just round the bay from Puerto Pollensa.It takes about 20 minutes to cycle there at a leisurely pace and the route is relatively flat.The snorkelling here is very good.The buses are all very modern and relatively cheap and the main bus stop to most locations is only 2 minutes walk from sis pins. The tourist info. office is also right next to the bus stop. Don't be afraid to spread your wings as its perfectly safe and there is so much that the north of Mallorca Has to offer. I would also recommend the walk through the Bocquer valley at the back of the port.You can get directions from the tourist info office. It will be quite hot in August though so you would be best to do this early evening when its a bit cooler. I'm sure you'll all have a wonderful time.

A word of warning though......although the hotel is great do be aware that the Capuccino Gran Cafe which is attached to the hotel is very expensive, in fact it is probably one of the most expensive places for drinks and snacks in the Port.

Welcome to the forum Emma Lou. I was a single parent many moons ago & understand your apprehension. However you will fall in love with Puerto Pollensa and the surrounding area. When you get your first view of Pollensa Bay you will be stunned! The hotel you have chosen is a stones throw from the beach. I hope you have a truly wonderful times......Pollensa has been a fantastic "stress buster" for me in difficult times & you could not fail to feel a sense of well being there.

So I am confident that you and your children will have a super time....ENJOY......

Thank you everyone. I had a look on the no frills excursions website and some of the things on there look good. I'd like to visit Soller.

Thanks for the tips re snorkelling. We all love doing that and it's a good way to waste a few hours.

It looks as if bus services are good and easy to access as well.

I'm still anxious about the hotel - it looks a bit posh for us. The reviews on Trip Advisor were very good and I loved the location and the view. I booked via a package website and it actually came out cheaper than some of the places that weren't so well rated. But I am wondering if we should have looked for an apartment instead.

I've paid in full so no changing now...

The Cappuccino thing worries me. I don't like the idea that we might effectively be charged to sit outside our own hotel or use the beach. I can't work out what the situation there is and what facilities have been left for residents, it's a bit unclear. I wish I had looked into this more before I booked.

We are not posh at all, hope we're not going to feel out of place!

Well, unbelievably the sun is shining here today. Time to start sorting out the garden.

Georgie you don't need to worry about the Capuccino thing, the hotel has a residents terrace which is separate, the beach is free to use except if you want beds and brollies which last year cost around 11€ for 2 beds and a brolly per day .

Stop fretting and just look forward to having a great holiday in a beautiful place with your kids .

We had a friend stay here on her own last summer - I believe the hotel share their breakfast facilities with Cappuccino until a certain time in the morning (no charge as you are a hotel guest) and then Cappuccino take over for the day. As Fil66 said you will be able to ask Hazel. Hve a great time.

If you are on Facebook check out the Sis Pins facebook page, got some good pics on that show front of hotel and private terrace by beach with loungers on. Hope this puts your mind at rest

I would say that the Sis Pins is smart, not posh.

Maybe I scared you with the Cappuccini thing? You don't have to use it, there are so many good value eating and drinking venues. I was just joking.

As Sparky says, you must start to enjoy the build-up and do not worry about anything. You'll all have a guaranteed great time...........................if not, blame Sparky - I know where she lives !!!

Why have you had to pay in full ? have you booked with a ABTA or ATOL bonded agent ? they should only be asking for a deposit now and the balance approx 8 to 10 Weeks before departure ....

Because I worked in the travel industry for over 20 years admittedly not in the last few and because the Hotel only ask for a deposit if you book directly-

The last thing she needs is to have been ripped off !!! mind you you could always offer to put her up being as you have a (in)vested interest in PP

I paid in full because the alternative was paying half and paying the rest in July. I didn't think it would make much difference as I am paying out of savings and I'd rather just pay and forget about it (as if I hadn't spent the money at all!)

It was a website called sunshine.co.uk

I did a Google search to find out if it was a safe agent and plenty of people said it was OK.
