Well, wonderful news about the vaccine......hopefully by next summer we'll be on our way to forgetting about the 2020 nightmare!

Good morning, I wondered if anyone had any information re current lockdown measures in the province of Pollensa, we are due to travel tomorrow and wondered re the latest figures, or whether there is any hint of the province going into any further restrictions? Many thanks.

The main change at the moment is the curfew. bars and restaurants have to close by midnight and everyone has to be home by then (except for the workers). The curfew is from 12 midnight until 6am.

It's great, the streets are so quiet. No f@rty mopeds or drunks shouting .....

... I've still got to climb the church tower and fit mufflers to the bells though:D

Are they mufflers for the cyclists bells? Ooops. I forgot they do not use them do they.
Have they deserted the island as I have not seen many on the webcam. Shame really as they do bring much income to the local economy.

Yeah, sorry about that.....I'm always a bit noisy after a visit to Bonys. :o

With the British government announcing today that all arrivals into England will from next week require evidence of a negative Covid Test taken no more than 72 hours before arrival and the Scottish government announcing the same for arrivals into Scotland, does anybody know:-

(1) Where in the north of the island such private tests can be obtained with a guarantee of results in the required timeline?

(2) What they cost (in the UK the charges vary from £60 to £500 per person!)?

(3) How and where the tests can be booked and how far in advance can a booking be made?

Thanks.

That is a very good question and I’d love to know the answer to that. The cost of two way tests, to and from Mallorca, will massively impact upon the tourist industry. Even if Spain comes out of its “red” status the test will still be required. I wonder when we will realistically be able to return to our apartment?

Who would have thought 2021 could actually be worse than last year!

Over the Christmas/New Year period the Hospital Juaneda Muro was offering PCR tests for 115 Euro with results in 24 hours ----also Juaneda Inca also offered tests so for latest information call Tel.: 971-28 00 00, www.juaneda.es

Also Doctor Mallorca in Alcudia offer covid tests with results in 24 hours, mobile 664404261. Tests were 250 Euros earlier in the year as we needed them for travel, however price may be reduced now. Very pleasant Doctor and a good service.

Sorry, I should have added that all bookings were completed in advance, via an initial e-mail, but then all on whatsapp.

A little presumptuous maybe but..... any update on local availability and cost of tests for return flights home??

Bye bye curfew

At last, from Sunday 6th June there will be no curfew :D.

Bars and restaurants can open on terraces and inside until midnight with 8 per table outside and 4 inside :D.

Beaches will close from 10pm until 6am.

This is great news. Fingers crossed, we arrive on Saturday. Does the limit per table also apply to children under 5? They are exempt from some U.K. restrictions.

Well the U.K. has gone and left the Balearics off the “green” list again which, in my view, is pretty ridiculous. Arriving on Saturday so time to book day 2 and 8 tests for return. Grrrrr!
My heart goes out to the PP businesses who were hoping for better news.

Where do you book your tests?

Haven’t finally decided but there’s plenty of choice. Ryanair have a decent deal, but there are so many bewildering alternatives. Massive price range and best to read the small print......can you get your money back if flights cancelled? Not with ever provider. It’s a bit of a minefield to be honest but, it’s been so long since we visited our apartment....hang the cost!

Whilst I want to blame the UK government for not putting the Balearics on the Green list the vaccination rate in Mallorca is appallingly slow. If you believe the figures published daily in the MDB the numbers of around 2,000 per day are a fraction of what our local council are achieving!!

We still plan to come out next week (against UK Government advice but fully vaccinated) but the logistics with quarantine and testing etc. are a nightmare!!

I only hope the the PP bars, hotels, restaurants and the dependent economy can survive yet another setback :(
