Current Covid19 Situation

The agent wants to hold onto your money by the sound of it. The ban until 31/5 still stands and personally I’m hoping that it won’t be extended again as we have early June flights booked and my Spanish car is booked in for it’s ITV. I think the worst aspect of all this is the constant uncertainty, fuelled by speculation in the media, and the complete inability to plan anything. One thing I’m sure of is (and I’m being totally hypocritical by speculating on social media!!) that the Balearics will be categorised as “Amber”, with all the hassle that entails.

Please, please, please as we get back towards something normal, will people be sensible and not drag us back into yet another lockdown by behaving like idiots.

We'll see.....I'm not going to worry about it. My birthday celebrations have been cancelled in PP, so pushed my flights back a few days to 26/5, but if that doesn't happen, I'll be there in June. Ho Hum!

We've changed our May flights twice now, and have just changed again to 3rd June. The annoying thing is that Spain is saying "opening in June" but not when in June. Oh well, being selfish, as we are retired, we can quarantine so Green or Amber isn't a problem for us but a accept it's a deal breaker for many :(

I lost my flights last year as the agent was reluctant to help and move our booking. Was such a late change which I was thankful for at the time but to late for our 5 outbound flights. This time she doesn’t seem to be interested about the ban on travel which affects us. More interested in when UK/Scottish plan to update travel after 17/5.

PCR Tests

For those of you travelling with TUI the good news is they will provide a package of PCR tests for £20 this season.:)

Also, I believe if you have kids you can get the Tests Packs (Lateral Flow) for free from your GP - or, if like me a pensioner, from my sons GP.
:)

Anyone here, in Scotland, can order test packs online. Order one day, delivered the next. There are 7 tests in the pack!

all those tests from the NHS are not accepted you have to have a PCR test with fit to fly certificate both entry into Mallorca and entry into the UK also unless uk go on green list need PCR test day 2 and day 8 mandatory with 10 days quarantine

Big day today....the announcement on whether Majorks makes the Green list. I'm not holding my breath!

One day we'll look back on all these Covid threads, like a diary of events. Someone will make a book of it all, I'm sure!

The UH has reported this, looks like more relaxing of restrictions are coming ;).

The Government held an important meeting with CAEB Restauración this Thursday , which lasted until eleven at night, to propose a series of changes to the current restrictions in Mallorca due to the pandemic .

As this newspaper has learned, the Executive has put on the table a de-escalation of measures that will be carried out in the next two weeks. More immediately, presumably as of this Sunday, the Government will allow them to have a continuous schedule every day of the week (Monday to Sunday) until 10:30 p.m.

Currently, the bars and restaurants of Mallorca can only serve on the terraces from Monday to Thursday, from early in the morning until 5:00 p.m. and in a second time slot, from 8:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.

On May 24, the Government will give the go-ahead to one of the claims of the sector : the opening of the interiors, although it will be with a capacity of 50 percent.

Lateral flow tests are available free to all for a pack of 7 either on line from Government web site of from most chemists. Web site delivered next day via Post Office.

It is official, as of this Sunday bar and restaurant terraces can be open with uninterrupted hours from 6am to 10.30pm every day :D:D.

From the 23rd May they can open the interiors but only at 50% and the 11pm curfew will remain.

Does anyone know why is the vaccination rate so slow in Mallorca? One minute you read in the MDB that 100,000 doses will arrive in a week but the daily tally on the front page of the MDB website hardly seems to rise? It would appear that this is the major reason why the Balearics did not make the UK's Green List as case rates are still low??

The figure on the MDB page is for fully vaccinated numbers. 1st dose is currently running at about 27%.

Given how desperately businesses need the return of visitors from the U.K., I can’t understand why we haven’t been given a date when visitors will be welcome again. While I know entry from non EU countries is banned until 31st May, I’m seeing speculation (growing to hate that word) that it won’t now be until 9th June. I wish we could have some believable guidance so we can at least make some plans. Uncertainty is the worst thing, isn’t it?!

I wish I could give you some hope but that date started by the Spanish government on the 22nd Of December initially for 30 days , and has been extended every month and now to the 31st of May. My best advice to all is sit tight they and only they will give the date the Boarder will open . I suspect it will be driven by the Vaccine roll out in Spain
I know everybody is desperate to come and the bars etc are desperate . But please remember they are just trying to ensure the safety of the citizens so the Vaccine roll out is crucial.
Once they have this in hand They will open for sure Imagine it it were the other way round?
The Beach will still be hear as will the sun may have to just wait a little but hopefully we can all enjoy and be safe
And it very difficult to separate Spain form the islands because inter travel is to easy so it has to be same boarder if they open an island its the same as opening all of Spain and that also applies to UK for Malllorca they have to look at the boarder of Spain not the islands

So is it definte that you can't travel from the UK in May then? This has never been mentioned in the UK press or even on the UK government travel advice page?
