Dear forum members,

I'm aware that there has been a couple of contentious threads recently which has put us in a very difficult situation with our advertisers and we had to remove them. As I'm sure you all know this forum is supported (& paid for) by the main website which is dependant on advertising.

At the moment I am attempting to have a break on holiday & have very limited internet access. Unfortunately Sparky is also not available and I'm not sure why. Hopefully it is just an internet problem.

Both of us try very hard to bring you a forum that provides you with helpful information but we are constrained in some areas. Please do bear that in mind and I think you for your co-operation.

Zelda

Thank you for all the work you and Sparky do

It is a great forum and really useful to have up to date information all the time

Just to echo that, we should all be grateful for all the work Zelda and Lyn put into this site to provide the forum free for us, and we should remember that when we post, the last thing I would want to see is this forum closed down

Hmmm, Yes indeed. I'm not sure how this forum is affected by libel laws, but couldn't help but notice that a couple of post's recently were treading a very fine line and a word to the wise. Using the word " Allegedly " does not shield the poster from legal responsibility . A misconception held by many.

I understand that those who advertise on this forum are in the main funding the operation. Zelda and Sparky do a fantastic job and the information contributed by members is extremely valuable. However, good and not so good news needs an airing after all life is not perfect.

Bad news does need airing, so long as its fact. Not " I Heard " or " It might have been " or " Someone said ".

This is a very good point, a quick goggle this morning shows that posts on forums are covered by the libel laws so members would be liable for libelist and defamatory posts in a court of law, and more importantly the forum owners could be which is why posts are sometimes removed!

I am so sorry guys but i have had internet/landline issues since last Friday, at first there were others affected so i didn't report it as was told Movistar were dealing with it. However on Sunday evening i found out that all the others were back on line  , so my neighbour kindly reported my problem and allowed me brief use of his internet.
I had received many text messages and calls on my mobile regarding a post about Nostalgia/Bony, all of them complaining about this post so i had no option but to remove it and i stand by my decision.

I am finally back on line but please be patient with me as i have an awful lot to catch up on but i will reply to all your PMs as soon as i can.

Thanks Lorenzo, it has been a very stressful few days, i hate not being able to stay on top of things, the heat and humidity have been awful and to top things off just as we were about to have our dinner on Sunday evening we had a power cut in many areas of the Port which lasted for nearly 3 hours :eek:.

It sadens me when I see a post from Zelda like the one at the top of this topic... not because of what it says but because it was necesary. At the end of the day it is a result of passion, the passion that we all have for the port and all that we love about it. Everybody has their favourite haunts and promotes and defends any criticism and assault or threat against them with passion. we are all different and like different things and certain actions by others against the things and places that we love can raise our heckles but can I please ask all members of the forum to think about the consequences of posts made in the heat of the moment - Sparky and Zelda do not need to spend their time fending off message from disgruntled members.

OK - that should do for post 1000;)

Thank you GG, congratulations on your 1000th post :D, i am just very sad that it had to be on a negative thread :(.
But hey, me with my glass always half full, lets move onwards and upwards and keep doing what we all do best, sharing knowledge and experiences :D.

Sparky. You do an ace job, not quite the right phrase as i know this is all for free and in your own time. Many thanks for all you do.
Mark.

this is not an open to debate forum, I fell foul of admin mods a couple of years ago reporting on miss gers, mrs celtic and master st mirrens experience of a certain establishment that advertised on here, my post was made in good faith with no undue malice intended just wished to inform others, I was reminded at the time after my post was removed that forum is funded by site advertisers which I accept (ps the business is no longer running btw) hence removed, suggest any heavy criticism or adverse opinions of establishments advertising on here be made elsewhere as will not be tolerated, I'm not having a go just stating what I've experienced again which I accept, cheers all happy holidays ;)
