I agree with everything you say although You have to watch out for those pesky animals on their skateboards :D

Haha..... I'll have to look out for them!

I mentioned this before Julian and got flamed by Bobley for having a go at cyclists....but I was a bit shocked at the time when I meandered across the road looking at the sea and out of nowhere came a couple of riders, silently across the front of me. I think because you have crossed the road, or have checked the road before crossing, you switch off as you approach the other side, not realising you are stepping onto a cycle lane.

Obviously I know now and will be careful, but first time visitors and young kids messing around on the path could easily find themselves on the cyclepath without realising it. The big issue is that its very easy to be distracted in the area with the beach and the amazing views and you just aren't concentrating on what is around you.

Cyclists see a clear route ahead and know they are on the right route so, are not really aware of the dangers either.....therefore its up to the authorities to put up signage warning them to ride slowly and look out for pedestrians.

Maybe Sparky can have a word...she seems to be a woman of influence! ;)

These are exactly my concerns with crossing the road. As you say for regular PP'ers you soon realise you have to look one way for traffic and then both ways for the cyclists, but for newbies I think it is going to cause problems in the busy months especially. I hope it doesn't take a serious accident before the authorities put up warning signs!

The road between Tolos and the marina worries me too as the pavement by the shops narrows considerably, and being on one level would be easy for a child to run out on to the road.

I am a worrier though

of course the option is to use the crossings provided and not just cross the road anywhere, that way you will be safer crossing the cycle route as well.

Not if you think they're going to stop at the crossing...cos they don't !!

I just looked at the webcam, and noticed that all the cars on the road are pointed one direction, and the cyclists on the road are pointed the other way!!!

Strange that!!

Wonder what they were pointing at? :D

I'll be honest - I think I will go to Specsavers in the morning!!

I can't make it out at all - can you put a white line around it and post it again?

We spent two weeks last August searching for this, to no avail - maybe we had put too much water in ours!!

Once you 'see' the puppy you will always be able to see it! The light has to be right and you can see his big ears and nose etc - don't give up!

Hey Rockape. I didn't mean to go in all heavy handed. If you meet me (which I hope you will at some point) you'll realise I'm pretty harmless. I just want to make it clear that some ( I hope most) cyclists just want to go for a quiet pootle and stay out of everyone's way. I've joined Strava today to look at the routes mentioned above and as much as no one has had a serious punt at a Kom in the last 2 years there are still cyclists going down there at 20mph even today. That's really annoying. Sorry of I caused any stress. Bob

I have said this before, there are good and bad cyclists, drivers and pedestrians, the bad ones are in the minority but if we all try to respect each others space we can all be safe, we just need to keep our wits about us and expect the unexpected.

I still think that the front line is safer now than it was before.

When I first posted about the 'puppy' I'd never heard anyone mention it before! I spread the word far and wide despite many locals, who'd lived in PP all their lives, giving me very strange looks as if I was bonkers. I joked that he would become a legend... And reading posts on here and Facebook he has!!! As you say once you've seen him you can never not see him on a clear day 😊

Long live 'my cachorro'. I just hope there is never a forest fire in that spot or he'll be gone forever

What is his/her name? ( Aside to wife " I think these ladies all sniff glue or something! Or maybe the strong Majorcan wne! " )

Over many years have always spent a few weeks in April out in Puerto Pollensa - wedding anniversary and sometimes going to the wine fair. This year was the most cyclists we have ever experienced. I agree with other comments - the new pedestrianisation is great but because it is seamless between cycle path and pavement it is a disaster waiting to happen. Even I - crossing at a zebra crossing nearly got mown over by group of cyclists. I, like Debz, worry about children running out but hopefully there will be less cyclists in the summer. Also drove up to Mortitx to buy some wine - the drive was scary - groups of cyclists so very slow going and unable to pass and even worse free wheeling cyclists coming downhill strait into paths of cars.

No worries Bobley, no stress either.....I don't come on here for a ruck, just to make a few comments occasionally. As I've mentioned, its not really the cyclists fault that they've been given an ultra smooth cycle path bordering a footpath that has young children playing on it. Its not really for them to see the danger (although they should), its about designing it in a way that ensures the potential danger is kept to a minimum. That's what concerns me.

As I said in my post all those months ago....'hope I'm wrong!'

As we know the crossings in Spain are not the same as in England, that you must stop for someone, its not mandatory to stop for people, so you need to make sure that they are stopping for you before you walk out.
PP is not as bad as some places, we have just come back from a week In Rome, and there its 10 times worst, cars do not always stop at a pedestrian crossings even when the lights are on red and people are crossing, Sue and I were nearly taken out twice by scooters cutting around the cars who had stopped and just missing us as they went through the red lights, buses did it too if no one was crossing!
