We have just returned, and my dad is in a wheelchair. We hired a scooter for the week from Multihire who were brilliant. At night, we took out the wheelchair as we often couldn't get the scooter into restaurants as many of them had steps up (tried to avoid square as overpriced and average food!). In the day, my dad happily scootered around. We found the Miramar hotel had a ramp into it to use the toilets, and there are public ones in the main harbour car park. Although we didn't need to use either toilets, it was good to know where there were. We also found an umbrella and 2 sunbeds on the beach especially for disabled people which were free, and a wooden path that led to it. There was only 1 umbrella though, although I never saw it in use. My dad didn't want to use it as he thought the beds were too low and he may not have been able to get up again but it was nice to know they were there! We used Conde taxis (got number from this site) who was excellent. Some of the pavements weren't brilliant, but we tended to use the road and the cars we saw were very accommodating with a scooter in the road!!
