Back from the Port covered in bed bite sores.Never had this before and had it confirmed at the Hospital last night.Wife is covered also.We thought at the time it was a mozzie as we were waking up to more and more bite marks and did not bother to inform the hotel reception because of this. But since returning on Friday more lumps started to appear hence the Hospital visitI do realise the implications about naming and shaming the Hotel so I shall not do so.I have e.mailed the hotel but still no reply. If anyone in the future is having more than average bites especially in the morning the tell tale signs of bed mites is that they bite in straight lines rather than random bites a mozzie does
I have approx 20+ large bites on the back and side of my neck 6 large bites on my head and numerous bites on my arms and legs. Not a good look and very itchy

That's terrible. Hope you recover soon. Please keep contacting the hotel in question until you get a satisfactory apology.

Sounds awful but as it is the weekend i think you need to give the hotel a little grace on replying to your email, i am sure you will hear from them by mid week :o.

Horrrible !

I read a while back how common this is In some Hotels in New York they have had to fumigate whole Hotels I also read about someone getting them in a Airbnb apartment recently Location wasnt mentioned

If the Hotel doesent respond within a few days could you contact the Tourism Office ?? Difficult with the naming and shaming but if they dont respond the threat of that might get a response Im not sure if you can get a reaction to them but as I get a reaction to Mossies wasps etc I would worry about it

Hope you both feel better soon

Not wishing to add to your disappointment but please.
You need to check all the things clothes etc you brought back with you. Because unfortunately Bed Bugs do like to travel. Check your suitcases. its actually not necessarily to do with a place being dirty these critters travel and are extremely hardy. And can be very difficult to get rid of once they take hold
So check everything you brought back with you

Good Morning All,

Just back from a lovely little break in my favourite place..... I'm very concerned about the above posting.. Surely the Hotel concerned MUST be named. I'm sure it's not an isolated incident, and probably you may be the first person to highlight it.. I today's age of transparency I think it should be named ...

Dont get your hopes up at getting a response from the Hotel for this amounts to an acknowledgement/liability to a problem/issue that is not doubt already known about.

I know of one Hotel in the area that has had this problem for years despite their best efforts or not.

How did you book the hotel? Was it independently or through a holiday company?
If through a holiday company you do not need to bother yourself with making contact with the hotel as you "contracted" with the holiday company and it is their job to sort it out for you.
Probably best not to "name and shame" the hotel at this time as it may be a one off and they might be trying to resolve it.
