I have a ScotteVest jacket, not sure if they still make it as cant find it on the site, has about 26 or so pockets, only used it once on a foreign holiday though.
Too Geeky my wife says. and I could never find my wallet...

Im with Snowy who says it is about time they clamped down on people who dont obey the rules

The number of times we have booked a suitcase in to see people getting on the plane with a suitcase larger than we have booked in and a bag which looks like a weeks laundry and then there is no room in the overhead lockers !!

The only way people will stick with the rules if there is a bit of consistency with the staff Sometimes they are really strict and otherwise they just ignore everything !!

I also get fed up with the people who spend ages unpacking bags at check in when in most airports now there are scales before check in then they have an arguement with the check in staff !!
Whinge over !!

I agree. People must know the weight/size restrictions by now but still you see them with several bags whinging that they aren't aware and taking things out of one bag to fill another........or trying to combine two bags together.

You can't print off your ticket without acknowledging the baggage rules. All it does is inconvenience everyone else.

Copper - You will find many posts from people including myself who have had incidents as you describe. Many including again myself, have used their own scales prior to check in to check the weight of cases only to find that they are overweight (always overweight - never under!!) when it comes to checking in.
We know for sure that we were well under only to be told that was not the case. We have also re-checked on arrival at home. I'm very sorry that it causes you to whinge but i'm afraid that I would always open my case and take something out rather than be ripped off! AND I would encourage anyone else to do the same too. As has been stated many times regarding this, there seems to be no regulation or noticeable checks done on airport scales. This is something we should be whinging about in my opinion.

Next time you see cases being opened, just have a smile to yourself and a silent clap to those brave enough to stand up and not be an easy target. - It could be me!! lol

I do weigh my cases at home with travel scales and bathroom scales and I must admit i have never had a problem with airport scales

I am actually thinking of some people in my " whinge" I have seen at airports who have been up to 10kg over !! We once saw a couple at Bournemouth who weighed there stuff at the entrance chucked stuff from one case to the other were next to us at check in cases opened again arguements with each other and check in staff and a bill for over £ 100 !!!!!! These are the people I am complaining about
If my case was over at the airport and I had checked it at home and I was certain I was right i would also complain

Still trying to work out how a case that weighed 15kg at Gatwick on the way out weighed 17kg at Palma on the way back. And no I had not been shopping for shoes while there!

This seems to happen to so many people Marilyn. Such a good money earner for them isn't it. I wonder if trading standards or whoever keep a watch on these activities.
Copper - I would be grumpy too with the people you describe. You always get the 'odd' one who like to try it on. What we have described is the kilo or two being over on the scales at weigh in when known to be underweight. You can usually tell the jobs worths too - the ones feeling important in uniform not cracking a smile and certainly not engaging in any form of social contact such as conversation. It has become a game to identify the jobs worth whilst waiting and then ensure we move to the next que!

Have to say reading all the stories of luggage being overweight, we must have been very lucky! In all the years of travelling with Easyjet we have never been charged excess baggage, even though I don't travel lightly and my case is always very near or amazingly sometimes exactly the maximun weight Come to think of it I have been over the limit but as hubby's case is normally under they take the combined weight of the two cases being checked in and don't charge excess!

I've probably gone and jinxed it now for next week

Debz, I think you have been very lucky. The problem always seems to be on the return journey too. Our cases are always at the limit going out. We take so much to re-stock the villa that we know we are sometimes pushing it. Not once have we had a problem going out but three times we have been challenged on the return. Over the years I have watched and noticed that the attitude depends on the destination too!! I'm sure the check in at Palma have a problem with Stansted! lol

Just wanted to say what great flights we had with Easyjet over Easter, we now take only hand luggage, check in on line and speedy board so we only need to be at the gate an hour before takeoff. We were the first on the plane on the way, sat in the fire exits with extra legroom, flight took off on time and arrived early, flight time now seems to be only 1 3/4 hours. Once again coming back first on first off, we sat in the front seats again left on time got back early, great service, great price.
I have just booked again for June, two adults, speedy boarding all taxes, £334 bargain, you cant complain at that.

We are Easyjet fans too. They are nearly always the cheapest when you get to the final screen asking for payment, and in our experience they almost always arrive on time. Sometimes they are late taking off but they have half an hour of contingency in their schedule so they arrive on time. We have used them almost every month for 7 years and have no complaints.

we have been using Easyjet for the last 3 years (now 4 times a year )...easy to book and have never had any problems.

Just booked Easyjet from Stansted to PMI for our cycling trip for next March (yep - ten months ahead ).

Baggage allowance is still 20kg, although the cost is now £14 each way.

Major leap in price for the bike though - now £25 each way. In 2011 it was £18.50 each way. That's a 35% increase.
