I can confirm that Crown Currency are great...........all my friends use them too and we have never had a problem.

Evening All,
I just got some Euros this afternoon from Natwest, the exchange rate was 1.1085. Is that good? This is not for a PP holiday but for another destination. Not going to PP untill July. Hope the rate improves by then.

Pollpott, In answer to your question. 1.1085 is pretty poor, it was 1.14 today in Glasgow and that was in the walk-in shops. These Money Shops(yellow ones) and even the glorified pawn shops (Cash Convertors) give the best walk-in rates, far better than the PO and Marks, they are also forcing the likes of Thos Cook, Thomsons, in the High Streets to compete.

Thanks Smiddy, It was a bit of a rush, I didn't have a chance to have good look at the rates. I didn't think Natwest would be very good. Never mind, I hope things improve by the time I get my PP Euros.

Market rate currently 1.165 but it is all over the place - things should settle down a bit over the coming weeks now that we have a coalition in power and the euro seems to be falling apart!! I hope anyway

Pollpot...best rate to be found in Swansea at the moment is the Travel House..they are always 1-2 cents higher than other agents or M&S (Monday it was 1.147

its hard to say- to be honest we have bought some over the last few weeks...if they have been 112/113 John has just popped in an bought £100-£200 worth (cash only in Travel House) he will no doubt be keeping an eye over the next week or so and will pop in for more (we are going 3/7 this year so only 4 weeks to go).He gets them in Ammanford but I keep an eye on the rate in Swansea...the Pontardulais branch is handy too.If we have bought more than we need - ha ha - they will come in handy for October anyway

I always wait to just before i go, currency speculation is not my area of expertise, and that's what it is speculation. You takes your choices, you win some you lose some! Anyway a cent here or there ain't going to make a world of a difference. I've always been of the opinion it's much more important what you do with your money once you get to pp. A hour or so trawl through this website will provide you with enough tips to save much more than any exchange centre can offer.

Just got 1.16 from local Coop Travel shop in Manchester for my trip next week. Pretty happy with that!

Walked past the travel agents on C/ Formentor earlier and they are offering 1.16 for cash and 1.18 for travellers cheques however it does not say anything about commission.

Good point Sparky check that these places are not going to charge you commission which would wipe out any gains. Just keeping an eye on the Visa wholesale rate of exchange at Exchange Rates – Visa Europe this is the rate that you get when you use a commission free debit card like Nationwides flex account one, I know some of us keep on about using these cards, but todays rate is 1.199, sounds good to me, lets hope it keeps creeping up, 1.25 would be nice

Be aware that when you are changing money in the port, the rate shown is not always what you get, one commission free place was offering 1.14 last week until I changed some cash and then it became .97 as it was not enough to qualify for the rate advertised.
