Festival of Chinese lanterns

Hello to all you lovely people lucky enough to live on the most beautiful island in the world!

I notice on the Events and Festivals page that there is a Festival of Chinese Lanterns in Alcudia on 24th August.

Does anybody have any information about this festival? Or has anybody ever been who can give any info/advice?

We'll be staying in Pollenca for a couple of weeks in August, and always have a look to see what's going on while we are there, so would be interested to know if this festival is worth a visit.

Counting the sleeps until we are there!

I had just been reading about this elsewhere. The younger residents of Alcudia parade the streets with lanterns made from melons and sing Mallorcan songs. A lot easier to carve a melon rather than a turnip as I did when young!
