First time having second thoughts about Pollensa

Kate your quite correct go girl!! We to as a family have invested in Pollenca and i find there are places to go and eat where you dont feel ripped off, just as if we we all went to london we would'nt start ordering coffee in Claridges!!!
I too can go to my local farm and pay silly money for a bag off coffee beans! so please people don't slag the PP off.
I don't rent my house out, but have got friends that do, im sure prices do reflect on the running costs, you wouldnt believe how some people leave the place , airconditoning units busted, air con left on all day while out at the beach, etc etc.. pollenca is a lovely place and i am sure price reflect that!!!

Hi Smiddy

Sorry you feel like that, I really enjoy reading all posts on the forum, good and bad, controversial and otherwise. I really do think that you are in the minority. Is it meant to be 'fun' or an informative medium for all who live or holiday in PP?
 
I agree with everything you say Moosey.

One of the renters even took a blind from a bedroom window and then said it wasn't there in the first place - funny that, as they knew the colour!! - when challenged they then tried to blame the cleaners! Unbelievable! The renters without fail, leave the ac on all day and night. I think they feel it is 'their right' to do so.

Agree also re places to eat and places to shop. We have been there in other posts so won't start up again. This is why this forum is so good as it gives experiences and information to people to help allow them to make choices. There are many restaurants that I would not visit having read reviews on here and lots of places that I would give a try that possibly I wouldn't have before. It is great to have somewhere to go to get the good and the bad as well as wonderful information on practically any subject to do with Pollensa.
 
Just back from a few days out. We had a few problems to deal with but it did not stop that feeling of being relaxed.
Walking into the bank and having your bank manager come out to do the kissy kissy is an experience I never tire of and just cant get over!
Getting in touch with new people who are only too happy to help you out with contacts to help with problems is a liberating experience when you consider that you often dont know your neighbours back in good old UK.
Discussions held in Spanglish with a waiter about the weather, and the peace and quiet which helps to recharge the batteries.
The real sorry from Josep when you rush in for lunch at 3.17 and the chef had left 2 mins before was a downer I must admit, but we had a truly wonderful lunch at 3.19 at Brissas Marina that made up for it!
Go with the flow (quite literally in the downpours) and the spirit lifts so easily.
 
You have really summed up the spirit of the place Belladonna - loved your comments about the bank manager, you are so right! No need for security screens and appointments made in advance or any of that palaver... It's a different world, and that's why we love it so much. Two examples this year which brought this home to me: the lady who rents our villa out for us had (without being asked) picked all the olives off our one olive tree (we are never there to do this) and prepared them for us really beautifully in jars, complete with spices and cloves of garlic. It just made us feel like we really belonged there. And on a visit to the Macia Batle vineyard my children and I were showered with very generous gifts by the lady who worked there - it wasn't like we'd spent a fortune either. I think things like this go on all the time and maybe that is why I get a bit riled when certain posters accuse the residents of PP of being mercenary...

I'm not answering that on grounds I may incriminate myself! LOL! On a serious note though, I will PM you their details for you to check out, although I am not sure if they deal with PP.

Went out in me vest early today , it must have been 1 degree centrigrade !!!

Have a good time in PP , know you're gutted I ain't there but do try and make the most of it .

To sum up, PP is a brilliant place to come to on holiday, great people climate situation and value for money so no need to have any second thoughts:p
