In my best schoolboy history, and I stand to be corrected, the town of Pollnesa was continually being attached by pirates and such like so they decided to move in land for protection, so Pollensa is 15th - 19th century, the port carried on as a port with the old pictures you may have seen, fishermen cottages on the beach, few small bars, church probably, then 18th - 19th century rich traders building the villas along the front, then 19th - 20th century the main tourist explosion with the majority of the port we see today, is that about right?
