Can someone tell me if there is a holiday around 11th/12th October? We are due to arrive on 11th and something makes me think that supermarkets are closed for a holiday around that time...been caught out before

Yes Tiggy is correct, the 12th is Spain's national day and also it's the fiesta of the Virgen del Pilar the patron saint of the Guardia Civil.
As far as i know the supermarkets will be open although some may do Sunday hours.
