Hi All

New extensive review of the Hotel Romantic now available on Trip Advisor

Regards

Carl.

Well mixed reviews there. Seems the main thing is about the quality of the food and the fact it's not labeled. The later would be fairly easy to sort out I would have thought.

Food always a subjective one (people expecting full English etc) I'm not expecting the Spanish equivilant of Tom Kerridge in the kitchen of a 2/3 start hotel but one one hope it's edible. I think we paid £40 extra each for the 10 days to go half board so if we get a couple of decent meals it was worth a punt.

I'll give you the verdict in a month :)

I got chatting to a couple last night who have been coming to PP for nearly 40 years and they are staying in the Romantic for the first time. Although we didn't discuss the food they were very happy with the hotel, service and staff :).

Loads of new comments on TA...seems they have been building up. A mixed bag - some v.good, a number of v.poor ones - especially concerning food.

Good friends staying at The Romantic at the moment say that the rooms & staff are great. They've stayed there a couple of times before so really appreciate the improvements. However, the food, they say has been a real disappointment. This led a few guests to have a meeting with the hotel area manager yesterday. He claimed to have been unaware of the issues previously but promised immediate action & rectification.

Walked past several times..seems quite busy, can't comment on the interior but the refurbishment of the terrace looks great..lovely variety of seating 😃

We sat there last week. It all looks very pretty, but none of it is really comfortable for any length of time! The trees help it to be a little more secluded, but they do restrict the view obviously! They have tried hard though, and it's early days, so I'm sure they will iron out any niggles soon enough. 😊

Interesting development there Lorenzo. Would be onteresting to hear back from your friends about any changes although I am not holding my breath ;). Such a shame as the rooms and staff seem to be spot on.

Sad to say after much consideration we have decided to cancel our booking with the Romantic because of the poor reviews on the food.

End of the day we could have been faced with having to pay extra to eat out at night (on top of the half board option) so for 10 days it would make the holiday considerably more expensive. On top of that with the wife's disability we would be limited to how far she could walk as well and thus the available options.

Never say never so if things improve we will give it another try in the future as we love PP.

Sorry, no updates on the food at The Romantic Hotel as my friends flew home early yesterday. Hopefully, things will improve there, especially with the competition from so many excellent restaurants in Puerto Pollensa.

Looks like the Romantic Hotel has opened for the season.......with the building work still going on next door:eek::eek: I'm glad I'm not staying there anytime soon:rolleyes:

I saw that too, cushions and umbrellas out! As Sparky reminded us a while ago, major outside work has to be completed by 1st May, but some internal work can continue i believe , so it will be interesting to see what happens come May.

I think some internal work is allowed as long as it's not producing dust and there are restrictions on noise levels also i was told that if any neighbours complain all work must stop.

Yes I was surprised to see all the cushions etc outside while the work is going on for another few days - I would imagine there would be dust all over the place so was surprised they had put them out so early:confused:

Stayed at the Romantic last July 2015. We we were only on a B&B basis so can't really comment on the evening meal, but heard from other guests that it was not really up to standard ie not much selection, cold and trying to replicate a british menu but not pulling it off, personally for me I prefer to eat the food of the country I am staying in. Breakfast very good, wide selection hot and cold. No complaints. The rooms have been updated but again in a very slap dash way. They have now put TV's in the rooms, again I can do without that while on holiday, but each to their own. One gripe is, why put the TV above the dressing table and the mirror above the luggage rack, hairdryer cable would not reach to mirror so had to dry hair blind, so to speak. Waiting staff in the bar area can be a bit grumpy one in particular (mentioning no names). Not the only ones to notice this. Also reception staff made you feel as though it was too much trouble when we asked for a taxi to be ordered. In saying all this it can't be that bad as we are staying again this year, great position, but next year 2017 have opted for the Hotel Miramar.

Having stayed at the Romantic before we were looking forward to returning to see the renovations in July 2015. We aslways stay on a B&B basis so can't comment on the evening meals but heard from other guests that it was not the best, they seem to be trying to cater for an English market but not getting it right. I personally prefer to eat the food of the country I am staying in. Some bar and reception staff a little rude. The rooms have been updated but rather slap dash. TV's have been put in all the rooms but the have decided to put the TV on the wall above the dressing table and the mirror over the luggage rack, not the best idea. Baths have been removed and showers installed, very slippy, would advise taking a rubber bath mat for safety. In saying all this we are staying again this year, but have chosen the Hotel Miramar for next year.

Totally agree with you Piña, we have just come back from there, shan't be going again, just booked the Uyal for our next trip out, that was great 2 years ago.

steve&marilyn

Yeah we have stayed at the Uyal before, lovely hotel. We have booked the Miramar for next year as I walk with a stick now and it will be easier for me to be in the centre. Hope you enjoy the Uyal, keep us informed.

Stayed in the Romantic in its Old fashioned days Such a change ! We prefer apartments now

I am amazed at all the work going on in the Ancla still ! Looked like a Lorry traffic jam outside there this morning
