Ikea, Palma

For anyone looking at a budget for furnishings then I would allow an extra 10%-35% for items from Ikea, Palma, compared to UK prices. We wanted to buy Mallorcan made furniture but found most items a bit fancy and expensive.

For an example a sofa bed in the UK was priced at £500 but 995 Euros for the same item so an extra £200

I would also add a note to say that you should check any items you buy from there before leaving the store car park for obvious defects. When we furnished our apartment, we had to return to Palma four times to exchange damaged or faulty items within a week.

After about the third time, I called and asked very politely if they could send a replacement for the offending item with one of their delivery vans (during their next trip out to PP) to avoid us making yet another journey back to the capital and they wouldn't hear of it, unless it was an item which had been delivered originally. They were not interested in helping one bit despite the ridiculous amount of money we had spent with them!!

Thanks for the warning folks. So far I have only bought small items from Ikea, eg pillows, but had intended to part with more money on larger items. I'll take extra care when I do!

Just thought I would some good words regarding delivery. We have had 3 deliveries recently from Ikea. On all 3 occasions they telephoned at 8 am in the morning as promised and all deliveries made during the allocated time slot.

I found the staff very helpful in Ikea. As you only usually hear about problems with retail outlets, I think it is imporatnt to share any positive experiences!

ps After about 10 visits, I have finally sussed out the best route. The back road in reminds me uncannilly of the Ikea in Purley Way, Croydon.
